Fraser Valley Group?

Well, I missed another Vancouver meeting, and it looks like I'll miss most of them. It's got me thinking that I'd like to pull together a somewhat regular meeting of Drupal users and developers for people who live in Langley, Surrey, and eastward. I don't have a lot of plans for it right now, but I'd like to gauge interest. So if you'd be interested in meeting once to talk about the idea, respond here and we'll make something happen.

I think this is a great idea. I remember when I lived in Coquitlam (closer than Langley/Surrey/Delta) and commuting downtown sucked big time. A local group would be a nicer option (and more enviro-friendly).

There's a Vancouver Web Design meetup group that's more a Fraser Valley meetup group now (http://webdesign.meetup.com/395/) with at least one member in common with the Vancouver Drupalers (hi Angus). You might find some interest there, as well.

If there's anything I can do to help, let me know.

While I like the great group of really connected Drupaliers downtown (I would probably still make the trek) It would be really great to do something that didn't take two hours down and an hour and half back. And I'm the meetup hold out. We would change the name of the Meetup group but we can't figure out how.

There's nothing organized as of yet. But a number of us head out to the meetup at Raincity on Thursday nights and you'd be welcome to come along with us sometime.

The web designers meetup group Angus mentioned has moved its meetings back to Vancouver.

In the (admitted few) conversations I've had with folks east of the Fraser river people expressed interest, but no one has had enough time to get a group up and running.

The Vancouver group started out at Take 5 cafe as a Birds of a Feather type session, no formal presentations. There's a Take 5 cafe in Langley, now. It would almost be poetic if someone from the Fraser Valley simply picked a day for a Fraser Valley meetup at the local Take 5. It's really just that easy. Based on numbers, you could decide if you need to shift day or time, stay a social thing, or find a place you could have presentations.

Just don't pick the last Thursday of the month, cause Vancouver's called dibs! :-)

This group no longer seems to be active based on the dates of the posts. Can anyone recommend a group that is active in the White ROck/Delta/Surrey/Richmond/New Westminster? areas?

I write for our website and I like to keep up with the most effective ways to do so that is consistent with improving our organic SEO rankings... we are doing fairly well but good SEO rankings are a moving target.

I blog and write content for an accounting firm in addition to other responsibilities.
