Just confirming that the next meeting will be on Wed, June 2, 6-8 pm, at the Deschutes Hall on the Univ of Oregon campus, in the 2nd floor main conference room (same location).

Meeting
I'll be able to stay for the whole meeting this time around! Hooray!
Oh darn... -> can someone open the door?
I can't make it tomorrow evening!
I usually show up at 5pm and open the door to the computer science department for the Drupal User Group Meeting members only. Is someone else available to do this? (I also sent an email to Barb@craftyspace to see if someone is available...)
I am sad to miss Alex's talk.
But I have an emergency bachelorette party to go to! (don't ask)
Thank you!
Janice
I'll "man" the door from 5:30-6:15
I'll be there at 5:30 to open the door for people and to direct new people to the room location.
Agenda
Summing up what we had discussed last month as an agenda format we'd like to try. Some background: we have three goals.
1) Help break the ice and make it easier for people to connect. Any given month, new people might join, and we want to make sure they feel welcome and encouraged to participate.
2) Have the meeting provide some value to people new to Drupal and approaching Drupal as site administrators rather than as developers.
3) Have the meeting provide some value to developers (whether new to Drupal or using Drupal a while) and to experienced Drupal site administrators.
With that in mind, here's what we came up with:
1) 6:00 - 6:15: Introductions. If there aren't any new people, and all the people who are there remember each other from prior meetings, feel free to use this as a "what's new with you?" rather than a "who are you?" opportunity. (note: unless someone else wants to watch the door from 6:00 - 6:15, I won't be there for this, so someone, please help facilitate this)
2) 6:15 - 7:00: Discussion and/or show-and-tell that a non-developer new to Drupal can follow and enjoy. The details for how to best use this time really depends on who shows up and what people are interested in. If people are interested in using all the time for discussion topics, great. I think one to three 5-10 minute demos would be cool too, if someone has something they want to show. I can demo the webform module if there's interest. If only developers show up and want to use this time to get really geeky, fine, but if there's even one person there who doesn't want to geek out at that level, let's try to keep this time to something that everyone can follow.
3) 7:00 - 7:10: Break. Mill about and chat.
4) 7:10 - 7:55: Discussion and/or show-and-tell that the majority of people in the room are interested in. Given prior meetings, this will likely be developers, and can get into some nuanced techy stuff. Same as #2 as far as letting the group self-direct how the time is used. There was a request from a couple months ago for me to present on the Form API, which I can do, but it will likely require the majority of this time. But I'm also happy to let the time be spent on something else (general discussion, short demos, a talk from someone at Extanto about Bazaar, ...).
5) 7:55 - 8:00: Announcements.
6) 8:00 - whenever: Those interested can head over to a local bar and keep hanging out over drinks. I won't be able to join for this today.
Apologies, but I failed to do any reachout and advertising about the meetup, so it'll probably be a smallish gathering, mostly of the regulars. But who knows, maybe someone new will show up too. Regardless, I'm sure it will be fun and interesting, and I look forward to seeing you all.
Thanks!
Thanks effulgentsia!! See you next time.
Nice meeting everyone
