Sorry for not posting this in spanish, but my spanish is still very poor. Hoping to improve on that. I just thought I'd introduce myself, I recently moved from Colorado in the US to Playas Del Coco, in Guanacaste. I'll be here for around 4-6 months before I move on...
I've been using Drupal for about 4 years now, and have been active in the community in a variety of ways, from core development to being a member of the usability team to helping organize DrupalCamp Colorado the last few years. I'd love to come to a meetup while I'm in Costa Rica or just get some coffee and chat with other people using Drupal in the area. Do you guys have regular meetings?
Anyway, if there's a meetup nearby or if anyone is in my area and just wants to grab coffee or beers and talk Drupal let me know!

Another question I have is
Another question I have is how many of you use IRC? I'm on it pretty much all the time. Is there enough interest that it would be worth creating a #drupal-cr IRC channel? In Colorado we've found that it's a great way to communicate with each other and bring the community together. If there is interest from members of this group I can get the channel registered and (hopefully) get druplicon in there. Let me know!

Hi Brad,
I've been in Costa Rica for 10 years, and I've been doing drupal seriously for about 3, but I work mostly on client sites. I'm located in Heredia, so a bit of a hike from you.
Regards IRC, I've used it before, but not all the time, I would say feel free to contact me, but even though I enabled the contact form, I can't seem to access it myself on either groups.drupal.org or even on the main site :( ... So I sent a simple hello contact to you via your contact form here.
Regarding learning Spanish, the best way, short of the expensive classes you can get here, is to go make a fool of yourself with your neighbors, taxi drivers and people in stores. Pura Vida :D

I've heard about Drupalcamp Central America. I'd like to make it but I'm not sure I can make it that far. It'd be quite a bit of travel for me :)

Heredia doesn't look too far on the map, I'm planning on taking some trips inland to visit some of the volcanoes and national parks anyway.. do you know how far it would be by bus?
As far as language goes, so far I'm using livemocha.com. I expect at some point I'll try to spend some time in a language school just to see how I like it. I'm doing a pretty good job of making a fool out of myself so far with lots of pointing and "No hablo espanol" :) Hopefully that will get better over time.

Distances can be deceiving in Costa Rica. That's about a 2-4 hour bus ride depending on the time of day and day of week and even weather. It can be even worse during the toursist season, but it seems you'll be gone by then.
If you're going to be in the Heredia area, and want to meet up, send me an email reply via the contact note I sent and maybe we can organize something :)
