So, as it is I am new to about all things web design and this group. Most especially Drupal. I have created and maintained a very simple website for a number of years. The link to that site is www.rmdtexas.org As you all can see there is not much to this site and it is very static. Just some html, javascript, and some flash. None of these components were written by me. They were searched for on the web. I merely cut and paste the information into the website and just happened to Forrest Gump my way to getting it to work.
The problem I have with my old site is content update. I am constantly having to chase the photographers, videographers, and the leader of the team to obtain the photos, videos, and event schedule to update the site.
So, I will obviously need at minimal the content that I have on the old site, current site theme is not needed only the content, but I want to be able to allow certain users the ability to upload their content, be it photos, video, or event dates, and have it viewable for other people. This is very basic outline as I wish for other functions as well.
So as you all are the experts here in Houston, I am hoping you all can point to some articles and books to help me get this thing started, as scouring the internet and following written and video tutorials is getting most depressing.
Thanks,
Richard

Hi, I generally recommend
Hi,
I generally recommend O'Reilly's Using Drupal as a good place to start. You can buy this at a discount with our user group discount info. Contact me using the contact form, and I can send you a code for that.
I know you mentioned that you are tired of video tutorials, but there are lots of good ones out there. Off the top of my head, Lullabot and Mustardseed Media have some good ones.
Is this it
Did a quick google search and came up with this book. Wondering if this is the one you are recommending as the publisher is correct, the title is there but not exact.

Yep, that's it
Yes, that's the book Katherine mentioned. I'm considering getting a copy of it myself.
Be picking that Up
I will be getting that book. Since my idea for content are some what minimalistic and, I am hoping, the features are commonly used this book will have most of what I need in it. Although, there is still the theme to be considered as well. Man, I am quite sure I was not born to be a web developer.
Thanks,
Richard
