I've been using alpha 6 or dev and while most of it is working fine it still seems a little bit buggy for a production site. I've only just noticed that there's a 3.4 version for drupal 5.x if you click through to the full downloads page for the project... should I use that instead? I only need fairly basic functionality with the addition of file download products.
Two questions:
1. Is 3.4 stable and does it have good functionality including file download products?
2. Is it possible to (easily) revert to 3.4 from 4.alpha6 and keep the product database intact?
If it's too much trouble I'll probably stick to alpha6 and squash and/or ignore the bugs...
Thanks for your help.

Version 3 is stable, version
Version 3 is stable, version 4 the not-yet-stable development version. I doubt anyone is maintaining a downgrade script
It depends on your time
It depends on your time requirements.
If you are planning to go live after January/Febuaray (6+ weeks), then I would use 4.x-dev otherwise I would use v3.4
You could revert, but it may take a little work.

Are these time lines still
Are these time lines still up to date?
I'm building a site that is due to go live in 2 to 3 weeks. Should I use ec3 or go straight ahead with ec4?
Thanks
we are still fully
we are still fully supporting ec v3.x, but we are no longer adding any new functionality

Awesome
Thanks guys, I had a play with 3.4 and it seems to work fine, very complete for what I need anyway.
Just a suggestion - I think you should have a link to the 3.4 stable version on the front page of the ecommerce project page - I mistakenly thought that 3.4 was only available for drupal 4 and if i used drupal 5 I had to use ec 4 alpha 6 because those are the downloads available on the front page there.
