Hi all,

The 6.x-1.x-dev (DRUPAL-6--1) has been updated with a few changes. The most major feature is the Validation module, which I'm hoping will be the answer to many of the 'international number validation' issues that have been posted.

The changes are detailed in the CHANGELOG.txt files and reflected here: http://moo0.net/smsframework/?q=node/4

Major changes are:
sms

  • Standard set of constants defined for message status codes and gateway return codes.
  • Supports a more full gateway response (not just true/false) including message status and gateway response codes.
  • Revamped sms_validate_number() function to implement validation hooks, improve error handling and allow validators to format numbers.
  • Support for message receipt handling.
  • Made country (ruleset) selector optional on the send form.

sms_clickatell

  • Clickatell updated module including long message support, inbound message receiver, receipt receiver and support for additional Clickatell send features.

sms_devel (new)

  • Going to hold a series of dev and test tools to help people integrate the SMS Framework into their site, and to help gateway developers.

sms_txtlocal (new)

sms_valid (new)

  • Configurable number validation and formatting features.

Big shout-outs to @andybill and @frazras for their immense help with the sms_valid module.

Please read the changelog and try the dev module. FYI, I will be offline for the next 5 days, but will respond to any issues or feedback when I return. You can post comments to this discussion, file an issue against 6.x-1.x-dev or send me a private message. All good.

Cheers everyone,
@aspope

Very cool... D7?

Hey aspope,

Great work. I'm looking forward to trying out the new version of the module.

Just wondering if the inclusion of these new features and fixes means that we'll start moving towards a Drupal 7 port. Do you have any plans for a D7 port in the not-too-distant future?

Cheers,
Ben

@BenK: I was expecting that question, but I'm afraid that I don't have a good answer for you yet.

I still have some research to do, but the case may be that I will need a lot of help to get the D7 port off the ground. The architecture of the port will be quite different, since I expect to implement a more class-based approach.
