Error when editing group nodes

We encourage users to post events happening in the community to the community events group on https://www.drupal.org.

Fatal error: Call to undefined function: ctype_alnum() in /var/www/groups.drupal.org/htdocs/sites/default/modules/pathauto/pathauto.module on line 280

Got this when I edited a group node to change the Welcome message.

thanks ... this is a php misconfiguration on drupal2 web server. OSUOSL will respond eventually.
