Working meetings ?

Events happening in the community are now at Drupal community events on www.drupal.org.

As discussed last night at the DUG meeting - is anyone in the Sacramento area interested in setting up a beginner's workgroup? The idea came up because there are so many questions when you're new to Drupal, and sometimes there just isn't enough time in the presentations to get them all answered.

If so, post your ideas as comments and we'll see if we can get something moving. The most convenient time for me would be on Tuesday or Friday evenings, but there is no reason it has to be scheduled around me ... we just need to get it facilitated if we have enough interest.

Obviously it would be super helpful if our more advanced peers were willing to come do some tutoring! :)

Gee, miss just one meeting and you miss all the fun. :-)

I would love a working group. There are certainly lots of things I can help newbies with AND at the same time, I still have lots of questions that are popping up as I build my first few drupal sites for clients.

Between Tuesday or Friday, Friday works better for me. Seems like everyone else in the world schedules all of their meetings on Tuesday and Wednesdays.

As I am new to Drupal and the SacDUG I am quite interested in learning more about it. Tuesdays, Wednesdays, or Thursdays work best for me.

I'm interested in:
Salesforce integration (back and forth)
Best practices and modules (user and admin)
Tips and tricks (secrets that make your life easier as a developer or admin)
Ubercart
Roles based on donations or purchases

In a nut shell, the current sites we are running are Joomla based (general info, news & info, online magazine, and a community) that we are hoping to put into one location with information and discounts as your role increases.

Thanks for being a great resource! I look forward to one day sharing my Drupal knowledge with others.

A few more things:
1. Ignore my suggestion for nights of the week and just post your best nights, in order of preference like Will did (so we can try to come up with a "best for the most people" day / time).
2. Any reason we can't consider weekend-mornings, if we're only talking about one meeting a month?
3. Might want to post the general area you live in, too ... will help us find a somewhat central location ...

  2. What do I need help with about Drupal? Yes! I have it loaded but just can't keep up from there.
  3. What days and times work best? I am available except some Wednesday nights, Friday mornings, and some Saturday mornings.
    I am already in Sacramento for the following meetings:
    The Sacramento Web Development Meetup Group - Natomas and Arden occasional Wednesday nights,
    Sacramento SEO and Internet Marketing Group - Occasional Saturday mornings
    The Sacramento Flash Meetup - Trying to set up date/time
    Graphic Design, Advertising & Freelance Meetup Group - Trying to set up date/time
    Standing Doctor Appt. Fridays 9:30am-1pm

I would like to give this a try once a month. I be willing to share what I can.

Would be a good place to test out sessions for the day when we grow into doing a camp.

I would really like to revisit some of the topics we've done again.

Yessss please but scheduling may become an issue soon. Hopefully this can be done more than once or podcast so anyone that misses can view and learn at their own time and speed.

Hi! I just started using Drupal (and just joined a few minutes ago) and would really appreciate a meeting to meet others and bounce ideas or whatnot!

  1. Where do I live? Woodland
  2. What do I need help with about Drupal? I am using PushButton and need to create a subtheme to really make it work for my work.
  3. What days and times work best? Any later evenings work for me (ie 7:30pm or later). It is possible for me to meet during the morning or day Tues/Thurs.

Thanks everyone! I'm self-teaching and am way overwhelmed with using html, figuring out Drupal, and trying to learn what other things are (like php - which I'm still not fully understanding). =)

Thanks for the comment. This does look like a good group!

I think having a beginner's group would be helpful and was wondering if that was still a go since time seems to have passed a bit. And, if it is going on, I'd love to be a part of it!
