Commit restrictions lifted for installation profiles hosted on drupal.org

We encourage users to post events happening in the community to the community events group on https://www.drupal.org.

You can now commit anything to an installation profile that you could commit anywhere else in the CVS repository. So, if your installation profile requires its own module or theme or something, you can just include those files directly in your profile's directory instead of having to use separate projects for them.

However, you still should not commit copies of other modules your installation profile depends on. For that, create a packaged distribution using a drupal-org.make file pointing to the versions of the external modules you want to include. See http://drupal.org/node/642116 for details.
