I have started www.thenextlayer.org a drupal based platform for collaborative research. read the about page to get a full overview what this site is about, but basically I want to create a system to be used by people who do research, either in an open and free context or as a PhD in areas with overlaps between digital culture, media art, FLOSS, etc. I have followed a bit the group drupal for education but I found it too top down educational.
thenextlayer.org is more about open collaboration between peers. the requirements are quite high as digital practicioners want to work with image, audio, video, yet at the same time text should be dealt with properly standing up to any academic demand.
I am looking for people who would be interested in joining the developmental effort behind this project, particular people from either Vienna and / or London (I happen to live in both places) so that we can have face to face meetings.
In particular I would like to organise a one day workshop in Vienna within the next weeks. If you are interested to join please post here or email me.
