Could anyone use some help?

Events happening in the community are now at Drupal community events on www.drupal.org.

Hello from New Orleans!

I'm currently a Marine stationed here in NOLA and an aspiring Drupal developer. Although I'm in the beginner learning phase I am always looking for ways to enhance my skills. I have created one drupal site for a non-profit here in the local area. The site is siliconbayou.afceachapter.org. There hosting servers tend to be slow at times so I apologize if you have a delay when viewing.

Anyway, my theming skills are minimal while my customization and modification skills are a little more up to par. I'm looking to volunteer to help any and all who need it (free of charge of course) so that I can gain the experience I need. Please let me know if I can do anything to help out! Even the smallest things help!

P.S. Did anyone ever start drupal meetings in Louisiana?

Hi

The site responded very well for me. Tip: You can add "beautiful urls" easily using the path and pathauto modules.

There was some talk about a meetup in Baton Rouge but I can't tell from the posts if it ever happened. I am interested in putting something together this fall (especially if it's virtual) leading up to Drupalcon in Chicago 2010.

We should organize

I agree, that would be great to have virtual meetings. We should organize something and maybe others will become interested as it develops. As far as "beautiful urls" go, I actually have both modules installed, but something in the configuration must have changed and it is no longer displaying correctly. I will have to look into that.

The problem with this site is that all content was generated by me with little to no input from the organization. I came up with what I could based on other AFCEA chapters, but after all it was a free project so I can't afford to put too much time into it with no compensation.

I understand your POV

I understand your POV completely.

Lousiana BoF at DrupalCamp Dallas

Y'all should cross the border and come to DrupalCamp Dallas in a few weeks- not only lots of good Drupal training (30 sessions), but you could schedule a Louisiana BoF session to help putting together some meetings in LA. http://openca.mp

I looked into Drupal Camp

I looked into Drupal Camp Dallas and I'm still considering it, but it's short notice and I have a busy schedule. I do intend on attending drupal training and events in the future though.
