I've been maintaining my own modules on Drupal.org since 2006. I am now maintaining 12 active modules, in addition to many patches in other modules. My most active contribution is Views Bulk Operations, with 20,000+ deployments including Drupal.org itself. You can find the full list on my profile.
I'm looking for a beginning Drupal developer who wants to get right in the action. You'll be helping me maintain and enhance my modules, and I will mentor you on Drupal development, from the technical bits to the development process and community interaction.
Here's what I expect from you:
* Good experience with PHP, jQuery, and MySQL
* Reasonable experience with HTML and CSS
* Reasonable experience with other programming languages (Python, C/C++, Java, Ruby, Perl, ...)
* Any experience with Drupal
* At least 10 hours a week commitment
* Eagerness to learn and to contribute to open source
* Ability to communicate clearly, regularly and politely - even about disagreements
We will do together:
* Install and code review existing modules to establish a basic understanding of how they work
* Go through the modules issue queue and discuss ways to resolve the issues
* Share development tasks
* Review patches before committing them
You will do:
* Interact with the community regarding issues to be resolved
* Produce patches for issues and new features - eventually, I will grant you CVS access to the modules
* Discuss module design and roadmap
* Communicate with me regularly on your progress
I would prefer to mentor someone from the Vancouver, Canada area that I can occasionally meet face to face, because it's practically easier. But cooperating online is fine too!
