I think what we're going to be grappling with is more familiarity with Drupal rather than expertise. Even really advanced programmers might not get a good handle on views, CCK, etc.
Perhaps we could do more of a general appeal? Show sites that have been done in Drupal? We could show off several local sites, explain why they were built in Drupal as opposed to any other platform, and also show some really big-name national sites such as MTV and Vocalo.
What are some other ones?
Friday v. Saturday
Oh! Also, those of you who have been to previous bar camps, what's it like on Fridays? Is it just a pre-party or will there be sessions? Is it better attended than the Saturday session? It seems like the bulk of Saturday could be out for most folks.

I didn't go to Saturday last year, but I might be able to make it early on Sat this year. Friday was pretty full, and I expect this one will be bigger. There were sessions for about 3 hours or so, so there is plenty of time on Friday if we wanted to do it on Friday.
I just realized, John Hwang is probably going and could possibly be our backup if someone asks a question that is out of our league. I just tweeted him.
I think we should show off some sites, talk briefly about views/cck, maybe imagecache, and then try to field questions. We don't want to get bogged down in any one topic and run out of time. Half an hour is nothing when people like Dan and Myself get to talking.

Friday is fine with me, and I agree that using 30 mins is a snap. What we hope, of course, is that we can bite off just the right amount that can be covered in 30 mins in a way that people actually LEARN something.
I think showing off some sites would be fine--but the teacher in me wants to say let's be sure that we have some clear point to make in doing so. In other words, we don't just say: Look at this cool site but rather, Look at this cool site--it solved this problem a, b, c or it addressed these rhetorical issues, a, b, c. In other words, we simply tie together the "look what Drupal can do" with "why Drupal is a good solution to a problem."
I could focus on two sites: the Volunteercentergr.org site and a commercial site I built in D5 (my first site) at www.esplanner.com

I think we should aim for Friday then. And Dan has a very good point. I, too, would like to have reasons behind the sites we share. I can go over The Rapidian and talk about the intricacies of user roles (we have five roles that we assign actively on the site).
Do we know that they'll have a projector at barcamp?

Joomla, Expression Engine
We'd be addressing what particular problem Drupal solves for us, but this area is pretty into Expression Engine. I'm sure someone will ask why not Joomla or Expression Engine? I don't have much experience with either of those. I'm not sure whether Dan or Ross do. So, GRupal: Why not Joomla or Expression Engine?

I've never used either one, but from what I've heard and read...
Expression Engine is a pretty good system, but it is not open source - it costs $ every time it's licensed. I think a fair amount of its modules also cost $.
Joomla is not very standards-compliant and sacrifices a lot for the sake of a novice-friendly interface.
I could be wrong though.
What time is everyone arriving?
I'm going to bike to Calvin, so I'd like to get a sense as to what time people will get there. Don't really want to be the only one there.... Ross? Dan?
And thanks, Eric! I've heard the same of Expression Engine. As for Joomla, I heard it has its limits in terms of creating interactivity.
