Hello! I'm new to Drupal,
Hello! I'm new to Drupal, thanks to some encouragement from Nicholas Holland over at centre{source}. Just thought I'd chime in since I'm another new local Drupie. I'm building our corporate intranet using Drupal and contemplating using it for my personal site: Pastigo.com. I've set it up in a development area to play with it and see if I can make a directory with it similar (or better) than what I've produced using Joomla and Mosets Tree.
Nice to see others in the area.
Welcome to the group!
Greetings Darrin! It is great to see another new face in the group!

Thanks, Jamie. Sadly, while
Thanks, Jamie. Sadly, while you were sending me that note, I found out that we won't be using Drupal for our intranet site. They've decided to go with MicroBloat's SharePoint since we already have it installed and are using it for other stuff.
I think I'm still going to try to use Drupal on my personal site though.
Quick question. If I'm starting out with Drupal, am I best to stick with 5.7 until 6.0 is shaken down a bit better?
Bummer .. well dont loose hope !
Drupal and sharepoint can live in the same house .... there do here at my company. We have a sharepoint server ... no one uses it .. but it is here. Now my department Intranet site is another story. We use LDAP to authenticate and generally all document management is now done in Drupal ... for our deparement ... if you have any latitude in your company ... try building out a small department portal using Drupal and do the same thing in Sharepoint.... you will like Drupal a whole lot more .. lol
Anyway .. I would go with 6.0. Though there are some missing parts that have not been ported yet, by the time you manage the learning curve, they will be. Just my two cents. Look me up if you would like a quick 30 min overview. I will be in Nashville tomorrow night I believe at the Flying Saucer if you are up for a beer (that invite is for anyone else as well)

Jamie's buying, y'all. :)
Actually, I wish I could make it, but tonight is my night out and I'm attending my artist's group meeting (yet another group I've been neglecting).
Hope to meet up with you kind Drupal folks soon for that beer. :)

Thanks for the invitation.
Thanks for the invitation. Unfortunately, I live in Murfreesboro and work in Franklin, so Nashville's a bit out of the way. In addition, I have a three-year-old and a sick wife. Not much fun or Drupaling going on at home. :-(
At the recommendation of someone else (and the fact that quite a few modules are just not 6.0-ready), I installed Drupal 5.7 to play with. I can always upgrade later. My big task right now is trying to find a way to replicate my existing Joomla-based directory system (or come up with one better).
Jamie is poor! Terry is Buying!
Hey there Terry! Good to hear from you again .. thank you for being so generous! LOL
I can assure you that after the Drupalcon in March, there will be some regular Drupal meetups in the Nashville area. I am sure we will see you there!

I'll be there
I'll be there for most of the conference. Probably going to bring an instrument (lute) if anybody wants to do some playing? Love bluegrass and early music.
