northStudio, VSBT and Acquia are happy to announce 'Drupal in a Day Course' on September 10th 2010, a day before the Alberta Drupal Camp!

Drupal in a Day Course
Are you curious about Drupal? Wondering how it can be used, and what you or your team could do with it? Drupal in a Day is an overview of the fundamental concepts of Drupal. It would be good as a foundation for potential site builders and an overview for decision makers who want to look under the hood.

Course details:
Participants will start with a blank website and touch upon almost every aspect of the core Drupal framework. You will learn how to add, edit and moderate content, manage users, create user profiles and understand permissions. Participants will then create custom content types and look at views to display this content in various parts throughout the site, including custom blocks and list pages, such as a blogroll, the last five images added, or the latest blog posts added to the site. You'll create-human readable URLS, and categorize your content using Drupal's taxonomy system. At the end of this one-day class you'll have a completed Drupal site, which looks and functions a lot like many sites you'll see on the web today.

Prerequisites:
Because this class will be an overview and not an in-depth course, it is perfect for people who are on the fence about using Drupal or who are looking for a hands-on introduction.
You will want to have an active interest in learning about Drupal, a basic understanding of the Internet and familiarity with how websites function, a conceptual understanding of Content Management Systems (CMS), a working knowledge of HTML and CSS is beneficial (but not required)
Those who are looking for an in-depth Drupal site-building training should contact VSBT (www.schoolvictoria.com) for more info on courses

Requirements:
Participants will need to bring a laptop

Space is limited to a maximum of 25 people in order to ensure that all participants have an opportunity to ask questions.
