Thanks for the comment, Pamela. I've found the Fusion base theme and the accompanying Skinr module very helpful when building sites which a client will be managing mostly on his or her own. My recent Allen Academy website was built with Fusion and Skinr.
To reap the full benefit from Fusion, make sure you build a sub-theme rather than altering the base theme's files. You can read about that (and more) in the Fusion support documentation.
