whats in your mind should be really apreciated, Specific Installation Profiles - I dont which are the modules - great idea. But translation will be revelutionary one. I had in in mind, when considered indian laguage translations, to have a malayalam extensions for tinymice. That is like this, one would be able to type malayalam using english letters, offline softwares are there. but no one onlive. I can contribute this

Translation is possible.

Translation is possible. Translation of Drupal 6 would work best.
http://drupal.org/project/l10n_server has some information.

Translating TinyMCE's interface can be done too.

Owesome

the loaclisation server may be owesome, I have never come across this. one that make our work easier, unfortunatley. thi is avalable for d5 only. but coverting to Drupal 6 won't be difficult.

I think its client is built

SteveBayerIN's picture

I think its client is built into Drupal 6 as a core module and can be used as a add on module for Drupal 5.

I have http://webmediadx.com

SteveBayerIN's picture

I have http://webmediadx.com (to be registered individual business) running on Drupal 6.

A malayalam.webmediadx.com can act as the website for Drupal 6 Malayalam translations or a separate Website can be set up to support malayalam translations

I also run http://indiandrupal.com (Drupal 5). We can have a http://malayalam.indiandrupal.com as an option too.

domain is

only a last part of the process. We can sort out that issue within minutes considering all the sides. I personally request you to start the translation work.

Just to clarify things, I

SteveBayerIN's picture

Just to clarify things, I don't have much experience with website translation. I offered translation of websites as something that could be done by the group. Unfortunately, my work doesn't cross into the territory required for localization and as yet, I have not come across enough information to start a translation project.

When I do have enough information on hand to start, I'll post it to the group.

Topics for discussion

A intro to various CMS and WEB 2.00 standard along with site creation, building etc to be included (Basic concept: Can create a WEB 2.0 standard website without any programming knowledge). This will attract more common people. What is the advantages of Drupal also to be included along with some famous websites using Drupal like, NY times, Adobe and Yahoo. We can say few things about Keralite Drupal sites also.

Basic info about language technology (based on Malayalam) also presented if time permits. This is not Drupal alone subject, I know. But it needed to make awareness among malayalees.

Time and place?
