Greetings everyone, here are the use cases that I am hoping will help me select the best search modules to implement in my build:

  1. External Search: Someone searching on google.com enters search term(s), and content from my site is referenced.
Here is the content I would like to be discoverable for these kinds of searches.

    • Specified node types regardless if they are group nodes or post nodes.
    • User membership (similar to how a facebook member is referenced in google)
    • After selecting the link, they can view that content and are prompted to register
      • Until registration, they can navigate with anonymous permissions
  2. Internal Search - Registered User: Enters search term(s) with the option to search only my site or externally:

    My site selected

    • Discoverable content is again specific nodes and user membership
    • If node content is from a group they are not an active member, they can view the node and also have a link to join that group
    • If node content is from a group they are an active member, they can view the node and have a link back to the group home page

    External site selected

    • Google type search is performed with links displayed internally

Given the above,
A. What modules would people recommend
B. Are there any lessons learned or best practices to be aware of?

All advice and suggestions are greatly appreciated.
