Folks,
I'm wondering if it is time to think about creating more locally based groups here at group.drupal.org. When we started off we wanted to make sure that we didn't fragment too early and lose energy by not being in one big group. However now things are much more developed and the "Bay Area" may be ready for some more distinctions. I would think we would keep "Bay Area" but create:
EastBay
SanFrancisco
SiliconValley
Others? Do we need a NorthBay? What do people think?
Regards,
Dan

One Vote to Keep As Is
For what it's worth, it seems a little unnecessary to me. It seems like the volume is still pretty manageable and I would still worry a little about fragmenting. I don't have a strong opinion, but that's just my $.02.
Any Drupal developers north of the Bay Area?
I'm a Drupal developer living in Chico, CA and would be interested in meeting up with others in the Northern California area. Would this warrant another Drupal group?
yep
We've run a Sacramento meetup thats pulled from as far away as Reno. Would that be in range?
East Bay Group - Walnut Creek
I would like to see an east bay group. I think getting to/from SF on a weekday for people based in the east bay can be a chore.
We have a nice office that to we can donate to the cause. We are right in downtown Walnut Creek, with plenty of space, a conference room, projector etc.
Please let me know if people are interested, if we have enough interest we start up a group. Weekday evenings are work the best for me.

I don't think it's necessary.
For similar reasons as ebudde said. I don't think the group has enough traffic to warrant it. I'm in the south bay, but I don't mind (and for now i even prefer) seeing what's happening in the other areas so i can try to attend if possible.
I don't feel super strongly about it though, so if the group splits, i'll probably just sign up for the subgroups anyway.

I'd be subscribed to all 3, so don't see the point at this time, but this is an interesting design challenge for the right UI folks.
