mysql sqlite drupal7

Hi,

University Communications is moving toward use of Drupal, but there's just one minor set back. Currently the IT department does not enable the PDO PHP extension for mySQL (and it doesn't seem like they will, but you never know...). So, I was wondering, in what instances specific to Drupal 7 would SQLite be favored over mySQL?

The purpose of the current Drupal project is to move News sources onto a consistent platform, with the option to share as desired throughout campus. As an aside, other Colleges and Departments websites will begin to migrate to Drupal 7 soon.
