How to Change/Customize Main Front Page

Hi to all,
I'm designing my new academic site (for my tutoring center) and I'm trying to use Openscholar. I downloaded and installed the latest version 3.6. I'm able to create new sites for teachers and students however I don't understand how should I do to configure or costumize the site main front page, since it appears to be diferent from the usual drupal way. Could someone clarifies me the correct procedure.
