- About Me
I am a native of Mondovi, Wisconsin, where I first learned to progam computers as a junior in high school in 1974. I attended the University of Wisconsin - Madison, where I was the first freshman hired to work in the Engineering Computing Lab, mostly because prior to this time, programming was only taught in universities and enterprises. In 1980, I joined a small software company located in Cambridge, Massachusetts, that was building a product from open source. In 1981 I moved to Australia and was the lead consultant involved with placing the first computer on an offshore platform, more than 1200 kilometers from the already isolated Perth, Australia.
Thirty years later, I still maintain my passion for innovation and open source, which led me to Drupal and Acquia. As the CEO of Acquia, I work closely with Dries Buytaert to set the overall company objectives and strategy. Acquia's goal is to establish Drupal as the dominant platform used to manage content, community and commerce on the web. We focus on the enterprise, where Drupal has competitive advantage and a great opportunity. I am very involved in our initiatives to expand our partner ecosystem, a necessary element of ensuring Drupal's success.
Personally, I am passionate about cooking and wine, winter sports and summer activities, my home state and anything Australian. I am have two sons and live in Beverly, Massachusetts.
