Drupal California is a working group for Drupal users, organizers, service providers and evangelists in the State of California. This group provides a single place for local and regional organizers to share California-specific legal resources, venue information, marketing materials and organizing strategies.
Group members are encouraged to cross-post relevant discussions, events, polls and wiki pages from other groups to this one. This is not a job board and job announcements will be removed. Additional group organizers and content moderators are welcome!

Is anyone in California attending the Drupal on the Bayou Summit?
Out of Curiosity...
Hello Everyone!
I was just wondering how many people will be representing California at the Drupal on the Bayou Summit next week? I'm very much looking forward to meeting more of our Drupal community, maybe I'll see some of you there?
Peace!
Private flight shares to BADcamp 2011
Would anyone like to get together on chartering a private plane to San Francisco or Oakland for BADCamp next month?
A good friend of mine flies on a private plane from Los Angeles to San Francisco a few times a month and she just pays for her share of the fuel. The cost comes to about the same as a regular commercial flight, but flying privately is more convenient for her and it's much faster since there's no airport security to go through. I need to find out how many seats are on the plane she flies on.

The Traveling Drupaler Program aims to link Traveling Drupalers with the local communities and events in the area that they're visiting. This benefits the group greatly because it allows a local group to get speakers and presentation content from outside their general community reach. Some speakers may find this to be a benefit as well, social Drupalers generally like to see what's going on in other cities, as long as it's not too much of a hassle for them to get involved with the local group.

About this page
This is a list of the Drupal user groups in California. Here are some of the things that can be done with this information:
- It is now much easier to find the California groups you'd like to join. Just click the name of the group you want to join and click the "Join" link in the sidebar of that group's page.
- If you are creating a new group in California, list it here to let others know about it.
- Depending on how #1074208 (Add a location field to group node) goes, a California-specific map showing the user groups can be created using this information (e.g. a Google map with markers showing the locations of all the groups and their meetups)

Incorporation vs. professional liability/E&O insurance
I think this is a pretty common question. I've done a fair bit of research on the topic but lack experience; perhaps some of you who don't could help me out.
The question is: When a sole proprietor (Drupal Developer) starts doing steady business, should he/she:
- Get professional liability insurance?
- Incorporate as an S-Corp?
- Incorporate as an LLC?
- Stay a sole proprietor and just hope his/her contracts are waterproof?
