Drupal 7 get started & release party banners

We encourage users to post events happening in the community to the community events group on https://www.drupal.org.
You are viewing a wiki page. You are welcome to join the group and then edit it. Be bold!

I would like to introduce the official Drupal 7 marketing assets, approved by the Drupal Association - banners and badges.

Typography: Helvetica Neue
The colors used (blue shades - #55b2eb and #0779bf and green #8ebd45) and dimensions match the Drupal.org website and the Drupal style guide to make these marketing materials consistent with the Drupal branding.

Use them to promote Drupal 7, the release party that you plan, post them on your blog, website...

Please share this resources so that we all are consistent with the marketing materials that we use.

There are 3 different versions of banners:
- Get Started with Drupal7
- Drupal 7 Release Party
- Countdown to Drupal 7 (5 days - 1 day)

Download the zip with all images

UPDATE: Download the PSD source for both party and get started banners
A few instructions for using the source files:
- Please do not use ANY other font then Helvetica Neue Light and Helvetica Neue Heavy (for bold)
- Please do not change the position of the logo/wordmark
- Please do not add any other design element
- Please do not change anything else than text
- Download Party banners PSD
- Download Get started banners PSD

Thank you

Get Started

Please link to http://drupal.org/start, not the tarball directly. We want new users to get the resources they need to be successful.

and thanks for the design specs.

Silence is golden.

warning : some banners NOT display with AdBlock Plus !

Didier Misson's picture

THANKS for these wonderful banners :-D

But, very strange : some banners are missing, not display, when AdBlock Plus is enable (Vista + Firefox 3.6.2 + AdBlock Plus (french))

example : 300x250_0.jpg and 728x90_0.jpg (and other) are NOT display with Ad Block ...
If I disable Ad Block Plus, all banners are display.

I try on my web site : same problem : I cannot see some banners when AdBlock Plus is enable ...
AdBlock Plus seem to flag these banners as ads ?

Thanks for all the work for Drupal 7 ;-)

Turn it off :-)

jjeff's picture

I'll guess that AdBlock is blocking them because they're standard ad sizes.

Turn it off :-)

Didier Misson's picture

Of course I can turn my AdBlock Plus off...

I was only thinking about visitors who don't know this, and don't see Drupal banners due to their AdBlock Plus :p
(same problem on Ubuntu + Google Chromium + AdBlock)

But ok, we have the source. I can modify size to make that AdBlock will not block this Drupal banners.

Thanks and happy new year.

should prolly add JPEGs that

seutje's picture

should prolly add JPEGs that aren't riddled with artifacts, or say... PNGs?

Willing to help convert to PNGs?

Amazon's picture

Hi, if we gave you the source, could you do the conversions? We've been putting in a lot of hours over the holidays and could do with some help to get these polished off.

We are also working on some final branding other Drupal stuff so we are a little busy with that.

Kieran

I could convert all the

betarobot's picture

I could convert all the banners to a few formats. The only questions is the original vector or bitmap? If it's bitmap then we'll have to miss AI/EPS/SVG etc.

no problem, I'm sure I got 10

no problem, I'm sure I got 10 mins to spare tomorrow

That can quite easily be scripted

with ImageMagick for example. No problemo.

Also translations please

perusio's picture

Thank you but you need to make these available in an editable format, be it: SVG, .ai or PSD. How are people going to translate to several languages? In our case it's portuguese.

Good point

Working on it!

Cool banners. Did you manage

beltofte's picture

Cool banners.

Did you manage to make them in PSD, AI or SVG?

Found them ;-)

If you don't want to manually

meba's picture

If you don't want to manually change the countdown images every day, I made a simple script that will redirect to a correct image:

<a href="http://drupal.org/start">
<img src="http://d7.dh-te.com/days.php" alt="Drupal 7 - Available in 5 days" />
</a>

If the date is less than 31th Dec, it will return Get started banner. If the date is higher than 5th Jan and less than 7th Jan, it will return a release party banner. If the date is higher than 7th Jan, it will return Get started.

Feel free to use at your sites.

(you can test by using ?override=20110103 argument to days.php script.

I hate to be captain obvious

seutje's picture

I hate to be captain obvious here, but then the alt text won't match the image, blind ppl (and any1 else relying on alt text) will have to wait an eternal 5 days :P

Broken.

A drush script and a cron job will do

perusio's picture

If you don't want to use something like Rules or Job Scheduler.

Create a tiny drush script that renames, or creates a symlink, from the image that is referenced in the src attribute of the img element and just create a cron job that runs the script at 00h00 of the configured time zone.

Let's do it the drupal way (tm).

Or we could simply offer a

geerlingguy's picture

Or we could simply offer a file location where the image will be changed each day, so not everyone in the world who wants to use this has to update their code each day :-/

PSD sources of banners

I have updated this page with the PSD source so that you can edit the text. Few instructions:
- Please do not use ANY other font then Helvetica Neue Light and Helvetica Neue Heavy (for bold)
- Please do not change the position of the logo/wordmark
- Please do not add any other design element
- Please do not change anything else than text

I haz a sad

seutje's picture

The selected file pngs.tar_.gz could not be uploaded. Only files with the following extensions are allowed: jpg jpeg gif png txt html doc xls pdf ppt pps odt ods odp psd csv.

Added tarballs for 100% JPEG and 24-bit PNG versions, both also contain an empty "available in...", idea is to set the image as a background and use actual text with @font-face, removing the need for alt-text and all that crap. Had to chug it up and rename tarballs to .txt :(

Get Started? With what?

mo6's picture

I'm really missing a slogan in the "Get Started" banners. People have to be familiar with Drupal to have an incentive to click the banner. What is Drupal? Why is Drupal 7 important to me? I think these are important points which should be answered by the banner. A simple clarification will do. Like "Open Source Content Management" or "Open Source CMS for 2011". Anything will do and is better than "Get Started" alone.

Get started!

Drutoro's picture

Good point.

"Get Started" is just not spicy. Something like: "Open Source Content Management RELOADED" may do its effect on new comers (like me :-) ).

Ubuntu, Drupal, Inkscape, Totoro.

Slogan reloaded

Psd Source

libre fan's picture

PSD source, is that a joke? Is Drupal the only libre software we are supposed to use?

Gimp works fine with PSD...

LoMo's picture

Lots of apps read and write Photoshop-compatible files these days. And a lot of us who work with graphics still use Adobe products, too, so PSD should be an all-around win-win for an "original" source file to work from.

Plain version

I have made another version of the banner. This is less a banner, but a Drupal 7 logo.
I noticed it was missing for writing news and blog articles when there is no additional information but Drupal 7.
Jojo: beat me hard and beat me quick if you don't like it :) Or make a better one...

Only local images are allowed.

If anyone is curious, the "7" comes from the free font Dekar by Fontfabric (http://fontfabric.com/dekar-free-font)

I spent a good hour looking and made this in about 10 minutes so here you go; full vector .AI and .EPS versions of the D7 Logo.

http://www.leveltendesign.com/file/d7-vector-ai-eps-logo

Thanks for the vector version

Aaron Stanush's picture

Thanks for the vector version, you're the king! Also, this is super nit-picky, but does it annoy you that the "7" is right-aligned with the TM symbol instead of the "L" in Drupal?

Yes it Did!

Chris Sloan's picture

Aaron,

Didn't even notice that yesterday, I've updated the file to align both the "7" and the left and right sides of the Drupal TM.

No worries

Aaron Stanush's picture

No worries Chris, I know it's not your design. Unfortunately it's probably too late to fix it for all of the materials that have already been distributed.

If these items will eventually will be treated as the official marketing materials, I would like to vote that the alignment be fixed in the final versions.

Agreed

Chris Sloan's picture

Yea, and there needs to be full vector versions of all the artwork especially the backgrounds designs especially; otherwise there not going to scale, which was the main problem I was dealing with.

Awesome!

Hi - are any of the Drupal 7 logos available in vector format? I am specifically looking to use the "7" for some artwork.

Newer banners available?

BryanSD's picture

Sorry to resurrect an old group post, but is anyone aware a centralized location for banners promoting Drupal? I run a content management news site and occasionally when I don't have a sponsor for a spot I'd like to use those spots to promote open source projects (with Drupal being my favorite).

Thanks,
Bryan
