We are pleased to announce that the Drupal community will be having world wide local release parties for Drupal 7. Please meet with your local groups and identify a location to have a party. The release parties will not be centrally funded but we will developing a release party guide to help you participate in the global festivities.
Details to come soon.
The release party does not guarantee or commit to the date of the Drupal 7 release.

A Party During CES?
I noticed that the January 7th date is right in the middle of the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas.
I presume that even a very small percentage of the 100k attendees would be a significant number.
It would be fun to celebrate D7 with anyone attending CES!

London Party + Pub
Celebrate the release of Drupal 7 with 200 other Drupalistas in London.
Our host for the evening will be Microsoft, no strangers to epic version seven release parties, and the venue they have provided us with is superb!
Presentations will start at 6:30pm, and there will also be an Ask A Drupal Expert booth.
Free pizza and drinks, plus various prizes will be given away including Drupal books from Packt Publishing, t-shirts, stickers, and Drupal Gardens heads from Acquia.
Being a London event, we will of course be moving to a pub afterwards.
