If you were present at BarCampMalaysia2008 in Kuala Lumpur, you know it was awesome. If you weren't, you missed out on a whole lot of interesting people, sessions and discussions. The place was packed with a surprisingly international crowd. From the people I met I can say that at least Malaysia, Singapore, China, USA, Canada and Belgium were represented.

As one of the initiative to spur the Drupal knowledge sharing and promotion in Malaysia, it was proposed that we have an association that specifically cater for Drupal CMS. This issue was discusses in our gathering recently http://groups.drupal.org/node/7708.

It has been difficult for Drupal to grow and accepted in Malaysia for the past years.

The following comments were raised :

  1. Why do we need an association, just on online community is enough.
  2. There are other associations, such as Malaysia Open Source, why not work under them.
  3. Association shall not be money driven.
