Work experience

Hi everyone,

I've got an IT degree and some experience of updating Websites using CMSs. I've also got a working knowledge of HTML and PHP. Also, I've got three years' sales experience. I'm new to Drupal but I've been to a couple of the Drupal meetings/days in Sydney. I love Drupal and Drupallers. So, I'm keen to have a career in Drupal Web development. Involvement in online/mobile/social media and advertising would be brilliant too. If anyone can offer me relevant work experience to help me get started, I'd be most grateful.

Thanks very much,

Stephen

Project Australia needs some Drupal help (volunteers)

Hi Aussie Drupalers,

I'm an old-school web designer, turned Wordpress tragic, that now finds herself wrangling a team of volunteers on a Drupal project. Woohoo! We've made great progress on the project so far, but are now looking for a bit of extra help, so I thought I'd put the word out here (hope that's ok).

ABOUT US...
Project Australia, a not-for-profit organisation helping people get their socially-focussed ideas off the ground - http://www.projectaustralia.org.au. At the moment the work is volunteer only, but this may change in the future.

WHERE WE'RE AT...
Functionality is pretty well specified and documented.
We've got Drupal up and running. Sign up, and ideas submission are pretty much done.
Modules in use so far include stuff like Organic groups, Panels, Location, Google Maps.

Drupal Admin Theme - Pre-release Beta

We're just about to release a purpose-built Drupal admin theme called "Polpo" onto Drupal.org and before we do, it'd be great to get some feedback from Australian Drupalers before we release it to the global masses.

You can download v 0.9 it at http://github.com/previousnext/polpo/zipball/0.9.0-beta

Drupal development "stack" examples

As a Drupal semi-newbie I'd find it educational to know what more experienced Drupal developers use in terms of hardware, software, workflow, etc.

So what's your set-up? It would be nice to be able to build a best practice superset from lotsa people's set-ups.

My set-up is currently:

PC Pentium 4 CPU 3GHz
1BG RAM
160GB HD
Windows XP SP3

  • xampp for localhost
  • WS FTP Professional for FTP-ing to and from production site
  • Peazip for unpacking D modules
  • phpMyadmin

  • Firefox for building/administering Drupal sites

  • Firefox plugins - Yslow
