modulist - Mon, 2008-05-19 17:59
Start:
2008-06-18 19:00 US/Eastern - 2008-06-18 21:00 US/Eastern

For our June meetup we'll be covering the features and challenges that Drupal 6 brings with it.

We'll cover the major modules:
* CCK
* views
* organic groups
* theming module
...

We can also cover issues around architecture and implementation. Our goal should be having everyone walk out with a strategy for when and how to use Drupal 6 for their own work.

Topics for upcoming Miami meetups

modulist - Mon, 2008-05-19 17:50

We will have 7:00 every third Wednesday at Books and Books as our date and time for our monthly meetups. Even if you don't see a formal event on the GDO site, you should assume that there is a meetup happening, unless it's the day before Thanksgiving or Christmas.

We'll try to organize a meetup around a particular topic, but that shouldn't hold anyone from bringing somthing up if it's particularly relevant.

For our next meetup, here's the info

Wednesday, June 18
Drupal 6 - important modules (CCK, views, etc.), installation, tips for development

Start:
2008-05-14 19:00 US/Eastern - 2008-05-14 21:00 US/Eastern

Our May meetup will be happening at Books and Books again. Try to RSVP early so we can get an idea of headcount, so we know where to reserve table space.

The agenda is still open, so please feel free to suggest topics in the comments. If they're more than we can cram in to the May meeting, we'll just have great material for June.

I looking forward to seeing you there.

Claudio

It was well worth putting off the Miami meetup for a week. It was very well attended, with about a dozen drupaleros from publishing, development, and design backgrounds, as well as some heavy hitters in the arts and philanthropy.

Most of all, the evening did wonders to make us all feel that there was a critical mass of good talent in Miami, let alone the rest of South Florida

NEW TIME AND NEW LOCATION!

I've rescheduled the Miami meetup because so many wrote me back with conflicts on 3/27.

Instead of doing the meetup at NoveCento, we can meet at Books and Books in Coral Gables, which was my first choice. If enough of us RSVP early enough, we can get the Antiquarian Room to ourselves. Here's the address:

Son of DrupalCon in Miami?

modulist's picture
public
modulist - Fri, 2008-03-14 01:59

Since there's at least 6 of us that made it up to Boston's DrupalCon event, there's no better excuse to have a meetup to share the wealth with those that couldn't manage the trip.

The Knight Foundation played a very prominent role at DrupalCon, and Studio:Module started a Design Outreach program aimed at making Drupal more accessible to a broader user base, particularly in the creative field. Watch http://designfordrupal.org over the next few months for developments.

I propose a Thursday night at Novecento in Brickell or at Books and Books in the Gables.

Any takers?

    This is to see what sort of interest there may be in the South Florida community for setting up training programs for Drupal in South Florida. Personally, I'd be interested in teaching a theming workshop and an introduction to Drupal for those of you just starting out.

    If you're interested in setting up a workshop, please post to this thread. If you know someone that's interested that's just starting to explore Drupal, please forward this post or encourage them to join the Miami group.

    Thanks!
