Our meetings in Santa Barbara have been hosted at a variety of locations, including the Java Station coffeeshop, the Las Cumbres Observatory and the Marine Science Institute and Davidson Library departments at UCSB. We're very grateful to our past and present venue sponsors and are always interested in hearing from venue sponsors for future meetups.

There's no module for that
Many of us have heard (and many of us often say) "there's a module for that" but what do you do when there actually isn't? It's not unusual to find a module in Drupal contrib that does some or most of the things one wants but isn't quite suitable for the task. Adam Ross (Grayside) will give a demonstration on how to make a module, from the basics of what the general skeleton of Drupal module looks like to the modules he's written.
Drupal 7 overview and demonstration
Drupal 7 beta 2 came out recently and the 1.0 release is almost upon us. If you haven't seen Drupal 7 yet, there's no better time to get up to speed on what it offers, how it's different from Drupal 6 and what the state is of compatible contrib modules and themes.
Open discussion
Everybody has a favorite module or two and we'll have a round table discussion where everyone will have a chance to share modules they like, they've written or have used to get out of a sticky situation. It's okay if you don't have any favorite modules -- if you want to, you're welcome to ask the group if a module exists that might help with a use case or problem that you're working on.
The only rule at the round table is that you can't repeat a module that someone else has already mentioned.
At the end of the meetup, the list of modules and the links to download them will be posted in the comments below for the benefit of the larger community.

How to Build a Module
I would be happy to fill some time introducing how to go about building a module and using some of the powerful hook functions available to customize your site.
Or miscellaneous other stuff.
Great Meetup
A small group but a great time.
Don't forget to come to the December 15th Meetup, if you are familiar with PHP but a Drupal beginner we have a presentation and live demo of module building all lined up and ready to go!
New to Drupal
I'm new to Drupal and am interested in attending the 12-15-10 meetup in Santa Barbara.
The post states that "Signups closed for this Event" , even though there are only 4 people signed up. Does this mean the event is full or no sign in is required?
Thanks for your help,
Christine
Welcome! The reason that it
Welcome! The reason that it says "Signups closed for this event" is because this event (the November 17 meetup) already happened. To sign up for the next meetup, click the "Sign up" button at that event announcement at http://groups.drupal.org/node/101089
Hope to see you at the meetup!
