GVS is interested in hosting a D7CX sprint in early December near our office in DUMBO, Brooklyn.
The purpose of this sprint is to upgrade as many modules and themes as possible to meet the D7CX pledge.
Some modules we'll be focusing on include Nodequeue, Fivestar and Security Review. If you're a module maintainer and would like to attend, comment below and let folks know which module you'd like to work on!
Is this sprint right for you?
This sprint is a good fit for:
- Existing module/theme maintainers and co-maintainers that want to share the work of updating their modules with other developers
- Folks who are familiar with rolling patches to Drupal.org modules and themes and working in the issue queue.
We haven't finalized the date, time & venue because we want to get a sense of how many people are interested. Please show your interest by signing up for this event node and comment if there are particular times that do(n't) work for you.
The sprint will be held on December 11th, from 10am-4pm at the HUGE offices:
Near the F, A and C trains:
45 Main Street, 2nd FloorBrooklyn, NY 11201
Big thanks to HUGE for hosting us!
Growing Venture Solutions will provide lunch for everyone at the sprint who works on a D7CX patch. We'll get in touch to take your lunch orders closer to the event.
Update: Treehouse Agency will also be sponsoring lunch as well as coffee and donuts. Thanks, Treehouse!
Thanks!

D7CX Code Sprint
I'd love to come and work on Node Block. I know the date currently attached to this event isn't finalized, but I could only do a few hours earlier in the day if it is on the fourth.

I'd love to join, but I'd only be able to join later - 1-ish PM on.
Yummy
If I'm in town, I'll be there. So many things to work on — Bartik, HTML5 Tools and Base, whatever else everyone else is working on... Great idea!

Coffee and Donuts
Hey Guys,
Would love to help out with this - can Treehouse pick up coffee and donuts to get the sugar and caffeine pumping thru everyone's veins first thing?
Please hit me up to discuss.
Thanks,
Mike
Hey Mike, Picking up coffee
Hey Mike,
Picking up coffee and snacks seems great! I'm sure some folks will need caffeine to crank out those patches :).
Thanks!
Ezra
WURFL and Mobile Tools
I'll be working on WURFL and Mobile Tools D7 versions.
what if I'm *not* "a good fit"?
I have not rolled patches for d.o before but really want to learn and contribute. I have local and remote dev environments to test against, have installed Drupal 7 10+ times in the last 6 months, have xdebug and an IDE; I'm not a Dr00b, but I just haven't gotten all the way through the process successfully yet. Can someone like me be of any help? I'd love to come but I don't want to waste anyone's time either. Thoughts?

Kelly, you will absolutely be able to help
Kelly, you will absolutely be able to help-- you have a debugging environment set up, which is more than some programmers! So at the very least you'll be able to test for people, and if no one needs your help likely you'll be able to pick a module you like and upgrade it fully or most of the way with just a little help from people there (and from coder upgrade module or its online version).
Unfortunately, i'm here to unsubscribe from the event– i'll not be able to make it to NYC this weekend after all (i'm a lurker from the Boston area and will in fact be in north New Hampshire on Saturday).
benjamin, agaric
Awesome! Then I'll be there!
Thank you for the encouragement Benjamin. I am very excited about being there. Bummer that you're not going to be able to get down to NYC this weekend. I had read the post about the coder upgrade module and had installed it in my version of "testing.drupal.org" (on a remote server) so I would be ready, but I didn't realize there was an online environment ready as well, so thank you very much for that.
Have a wonderful weekend, and I hope I get to meet you in person sometime soon. Cheers!

Bummer :-(
I've been trying to feel better enough to come all morning - came down with a sore throat in the wee hours. Sucks to miss it but I'm sure you'd all rather me not get you all sick. I'm with you in spirit (and I pledge to work the issue queues for #D7CX pledgeholders this weekend to try and make up for not being there). Good luck everyone!

-1, sadly.
Unfortunately, I won't be able to make it after all either. Best of luck tomorrow, everyone!
