Any chance we could do this with LUGRadio on the 12&13
Hi, I am going to have a Drupal Booth at LUGRadio at the Metreon on April 12&13th and we were hoping to see if we could have a meet-up since there will be 500 people doing "an event that has developed a strong reputation for providing a range of topics about free software, Open Source, digital rights, technology and more, a compelling list of speakers, exhibitors and birds of a feather sessions"

In a pinch, if ISL is not available, we could host it Sunday night at PariSoMa. What do you think, Jeff?
A Sunday night event would be much more of a social meetup, whereas Monday would be more of a user's group meeting.
Kieran - what are the odds that it becomes a mob (50+ people)? :-)

I will not be available on Sunday. So, if we get together then, it would have to be at PariSoMa and I'll have to miss it.
If that's the best for everyone, let's do the May meeting here at ISL. Please let me know.

Fwiw - to be transparent, I'm leaning towards the Sunday meetup, so the lack of any input will push it that way. :-)
Makes sense to link with LUGRadio, but Sunday?
I think it makes sense to include the LUGRadio croud, but I'm skeptical that people would show up on a Sunday evening after LUGRadio ends. Personally I plan to attend at least some of LUGRadio and I'm not sure what I'll feel like doing at the end of the second day.

Instead of Sunday, would Saturday work? There's an event at Jillian's and I could try to get tickets so we could meet-up and then partake.

Sorry for the delayed response on this thread. Sunday evening wouldn't work for me but Saturday would. At a minimum I'll be dropping by parts of LUGRadio and will say hello at the booth.

After some thought, I'm inclined to say Let's Do Both! I don't think we're going to lose too many people if we do that.....
My reasoning is that I'd like to maintain a consistent thread with the User Group meetings. Of course, we don't know quite what that thread is, but I think it should be functional as well as social (a la BDUG). Social events can always pop up on the side, for those of us who like that....
My recommendation:
Saturday: Kieran - post an event reg for a Saturday Jillian's meet-up, and that could build your "ticket list" for entry?
Monday: Jeff, reconfirm (or ultimately, cancel), and we'll keep this a "functional" meeting, with aforementioned presentation and more focused conversations.

Looks like we're heading towards doing both, which is a great idea. I also agree with Kieran's comment about how Drupal is work/personal for different folks. (A little of both for me right now.)

Hi, that works for me. For some Drupal is pleasure, weekend activities, and for some it's work. This allows us to accommodate both.
I'll be MySQL Con in Santa Clara on Monday, so I can't make it back in time. Best of luck with the event. Perhaps for the next SF event we could try to get a speaker, that would likely bump up attendance.
