This month we are looking at monitoring your existing Drupal site.

Jen Lampton, of Jeneration and Chapter 3, will show off her new Total Control Admin Dashboard module (http://drupal.org/project/total_control), which leverages Views and Panels to create a replacement for the default Drupal Admin page.

And Chris Bryant, of Gravitek Labs, will present work they have done on enhancing Drupal statistics.

Jen & Chris are both seasoned Drupal pros, and long time BDUG contributors. It should be a fun meeting.

Our social networking start-up needs a visual designer (preferably in the San Francisco Bay Area) on a part-time consulting basis to design the visual elements of our site (both the frontpage and secondary pages) before it is launched. We are also looking for this designer to design the logo and some other elements.

We have an excellent front-end developer already involved, so our biggest need at this time is purely visual design (although some front-end development skills could be useful). We are looking for a talented designer with the following skillset:

Looking for a part time contractor to help manage a multi-domain site. Currently it is at 4 domains.

We would prefer an individual over a design firm who would be available for small projects over a period of time, but we are still open to design firms.

The original theme implementer for www.aboutairportparking.com used a tables based layout that we would like to get rid of. We are looking for a CSS styler who knows Drupal theming to quickly update the main site layout to a tableless theme. Needs to look the same, just without all the tables.

This is a short job that we want done this month.

There are 46 template files (most are really small, only 6 are page/node templates) that can potentially be updated, along with the style sheets. I have a brief document details the work needed that has been attached.

chx (Károly Négyesi) is coming to Los Angeles and he's asking the L.A. developers to bring it for what will be one of the final pre-d7 code freeze coding and testing sprints. There will be chocolate, and at some point beer.

This will be a working code sprint. If you have experience coding modules and/or writing simpletests, that would be very helpful. If not, someone will assist you in getting up to speed. There will be tasks for anyone who wants to work.

We are pleased to announce Drupal camp San Francisco (a.k.a BADCamp). Registration at http://badcamp.net is now open. This will be a single Saturday event at the SFSU downtown campus at 5th and Market. The event will be hosted by the Information Management Systems Association, iMSA, http://imsa.sfsu.edu.

The event will include an all day Introduction to Drupal tutorial for 120 people. This event is primarily addressing new Drupal users and registration will be specific to this tutorial. Please encourage new users to register for this event.

This year OSCON is moving from Portland to San Jose. While I am sad to see the conference leave Portland, it's great to see many of the biggest open source conferences in the world converge right here in Silicon Valley.

I have secured booth T-10 for the Drupal community. We typically need 6 people to work a Drupal booth especially right at the beginning and when food and drinks are served.

This meetup will serve to provide a foundation for new Drupal users. We will be doing a I-just-installed-Drupal-now-what walk-through of the Drupal admin area.

We'll assume you made it through the installation of Drupal. So what do you do now? Come find out! We'll answer those time-honored Drupal questions like "Where am I," "But I just want to..." and "How do I change the home page." And many more.

I would like to see exposed filter block in panels pages using Views2 get fixed for Drupal 6.

I am willing to chip in to make it happen. ($75). If there is a developer who could do this and possibly use chipin to gather more support.

Jeff will discuss the work Phase2 has done bringing semantic technologies into Drupal sites, working with RDFa and more. Architecture for Humanity is seeking an additional member for our web development team in San Francisco, which is focused on creating innovative tools for architectural and design collaboration around the world.

Primary responsibilites would involve maintaining, debugging, and developing features for Architecture for Humanity sites, including the Open Architecture Network, the largest repository of open source designs for humanitarian and sustainable architecture.

This month we are focusing on Drupal projects going on at UC Berkeley.

Brian Wood, from UCB Computing Operations and Information Systems (COIS), will talk about a Drupal hosting initiative he has been spearheading, and the work he has been doing to integrate Drupal and CAS, the campus single sign-on system.

Site requires theme customization and styling changes to brand the site for the business. Must have experience with Drupal themes and stylesheets. Requires very good knowledge of CSS and working with multiple css files per page/presentation. This is a part-time gig and telecommuting is okay but must be in the Bay Area and willing to meet occasionally.

We are doing a Drupal booth at MySQLcon again this year. It's a great opportunity to meet hundreds of people and help spread the word about Drupal. As the economic downturn becomes more pronounced and people begin to realize that government alone cannot help solve the problem, there is a growing awareness of the need for community and connection. We are developing a plug-in portal for individuals, groups, and organizations that want to create a better world through direct help to one another. It is an online city-specific community that is part social network and part CMS that connects those that need help with those that want to help.

I would like to know how i can create a custom node/page that users will interact with to post photos, business contacts and business details on separate sections of the node/page.

On saving/submiting the form...all that should look like an idependent webpage...think of a business directory.

I need to ramp up to speed on module development and writing custom extensions to Drupal. I am up to speed on several frameworks from Zend to (ack!) Mambo but need to learn the ins and outs of creating custom views, filters, etc. in Drupal for an upcoming project, and due to other commitments, don't have time to do this the right way (RTFM).

Our first Santa Cruz Drupal Users Group (SCDUG) meeting was outstanding! I want to thank everyone who came out to NextSpace on Monday evening to talk about Drupal (and Joomla...more below).

Summary

We have launched two social networks using Drupal (one is live and kicking...and one is already in beta) and are looking to expand our team to several more drupal developers who have experience working with Drupal social networks or social media sites. We're proud to say that our current sites have been been built pretty well (we like to think so) and are focused on two passionate communities.
