Sounds great! But $300 might price some nonprofit arts orgs out. Are you offering any subsidies?

I,ve got the convention center

dgarzila - Mon, 2008-07-07 05:53

I have the convention center djb.

Lets talk..

I have the room, but I still have some costs that I have to pay.

It will be free to the public.

I have other sources for the added costs.

You know I have friends everywhere.

Say hi to Michael Alexander for me.

I think an added cost might be paying someone like Carlton

we need to get up to speed than we can charge a lower rate to the non-profits.

You meant this for DrupalCampLA

This info was meant for Drupal Camp LA - http://groups.drupal.org/node/12528 - hope there was no confusion.

NPO friendly

Non-profits are more than welcome to come and learn how to help your organizations with a CMS like Drupal.

too much? you sure?

too much? you sure? Lullabot offers a 3-day theming & jquery class for a a low low price of only $1,350.

$300 sounds pretty darn reasonable. especially considering travel costs.

Plus, have you seen Chris in action? He's organized, knows the subject matter, and handles questions very well. Check out the last LA meeting on http://drupal-la.blip.tv

full disclosure: I'm not affiliated with the training. and only know Chris through the Local meetups.

Cost seems VERY reasonable

I can't imagine the cost being any lower. I don't see how it can be as low as it is. And every time I've heard Chris, I've thought "Now this is a real presenter!" I do understand the problem with nonprofit arts orgs, who are often working on no money at all. For them, Drupal Camp is probably the answer, though the ability to have a "tool" like Drupal in place to attract funding might override the "We can't do anything that costs money" mindset.

Insanely reasonable

Two days for $300. What else can you get for that? A weeks worth of gas for your Hummer? It is a bargain.

Got the convention center if you need it

dgarzila - Mon, 2008-07-07 06:12

Got the convention center if you need it.

Let me know.

Need to know soon if you guys want to use it.

I want to learn more so I jumped on this quick

sorry

Drupal training

The cost on this training is about as low as we can go without losing money. Most trainings that are similar I have seen for 500 +. So sorry about the cost but unfortunately this was the cheapest venue we could get that had the basics for this training environment (wifi, etc.). To get a good professional instructor cost money also, Chris (and that’s Chris Charlton, sorry about the typo) is not getting his normal fee so that we can put this on at a reduced rate. So unfortunately the cost is what it is and I am sure no one will be disappointed by the training and it will be well worth the nominal fee.

An outline will be on the website within a day or two and the site was put up quickly so that we could get the training on the calendar and anyone chomping at the bit to sign up. I will post when the syllabus is on the site and every time we have updates.

Paypal link not working

I've tried to sign up with the paypal link on your page, but it is not working for me. I looked at the code, and it looks like you need more info in your paypal form. If you go to merchant services on paypal's site, you can select a button, then enter the info, like name of item (Drupal Training) and cost, and then click to generate the code for the button. I think that will solve this problem.
But, I too, would like more info on what will be covered.

I'm really interested in getting more practice with blocks, panels views & menus. Any plans for a 2 day session on those?

After or at DrupalCampLA

Chris Charlton - Mon, 2008-07-14 07:08

I'd expect there would be someone doing a session on either one of those community modules. As for a course, right now there hasn't been news of one before DrupalCampLA, but keep your eye out on gdo/la.

The registration seems a little vague - having parted with $300 via PayPal I've heard nothing since... is it me?

You are right. We didn't send a confirmation. We have now sent a confirmation to everyone who has registered and will continue to do so. As some of you know, we are not a big organization putting this on. We are just regular people who are members of the Drupal Community. We are learning as we go. We are very committed to this training for ourselves as well as the people who are registering. We are grateful to Chris for helping us with the promotion of this class and agreeing to teach it. If you have any reservations I urge you to contact us via e-mail or phone. We are available and happy to answer any of your questions and address your concerns regarding this training.
