July DC Drupal Meetup: Monday, 7/14 at Stetson's

Next Monday on July 14th we'll have our monthly Drupal meetup. This is a great time to network with Drupal developers and users over beers and listen to the interesting ways people are using the platform. No matter what level of Drupaler you are - pro, total n00b, or just interested bystander - come on out to meet others in the community.

We'll meet at 7:15 pm at the upstairs bar at Stetson's. Around 7:30 we'll start the lightening round presentations. For the newcomers, this is your chance to quickly present on the interesting Drupal work you've done in the past month. Each speaker gets five minutes - which is timed with an egg timer. The goal with these presentations is to make them understandable for every Drupal user, no matter the skill level, so please don't go too far down into the technical details. There will be plenty of time after the presentations to talk about your topics in more detail. If you want to present, post your topic here or come ready to talk on Monday.

There will be internet access and plenty of tables to sit at, so feel free to bring your computers. There's also a foosball table, so get ready to play a few games.

Gonna experiment with video-streaming the lighting-rounds LIVE using the newly set up Washington DC Drupalers ustream channel. http://www.ustream.tv/channel/washington-dc-drupalers

Does Stetson's have free Internet access? If not, I'll just DV the lightning-rounds and post them later.

Oh, and if you don't want your lighting-round videotaped for whatever reason, just raise your hand or let me know somehow. No big deal. Mostly just trying to get an idea of how well the service will work for us right now. :)

Turns out I can't make it tonight.

This said - we are still very interested in finding a a web master that has some Drupal skills - not sure if this is the appropriate forum for such a topic but if anyone comes across someone that is unhappy with their current gig or doesn't have a current gig - please let me know.

Tonight will be our first go at streaming the meetup! There is internet at Stetson's so Ron will be able to stream to Ustream. I'll also be recording some videos to Qik tonight at http://qik.com/developmentseed, and will be posting to Twitter when we're streaming if you want to watch them live (you can follow us here, http://twitter.com/developmentseed). The videos from last night's meetup are up. You can watch Will talk about his work on the SMS framework and Jeff talk about what's he's been doing with the space module. And over on Qik, we got Alex Barth talking about aggregation in Drupal 7.

This was our first time streaming from the meetups, but we hope to make this a regular thing. All feedback is very welcomed.
