Is there really a need for Filipino translation?
Yes.

What kind of sites needs Filipino translations?
Educational sites. Site builders can create sites which provides language learning tools to kids (e.g. apple -> mansanas)

This is just one example where Filipino translations can come in handy.

We really need a filipino translation but!

iren-gdo - Wed, 2008-07-30 14:26

We really need a Filipino translation but we don't need to built a Filipino site, what we need is a drupal interface where we can change into Filipino translation specifically in the administration page, if that translation is already in one of the contributed translation with in the drupal community then anybody is only going to download it in drupal, then he could change translation into Filipino of want too...while using the administration page, kc mas easy lng if most of the drupal words was change into tagalog lalo n for those who are newbie to drupal...

we can do this, we just need

we can do this, we just need to translate the drupal core 5.x and 6.x and upload the .pot files to drupal. People who need the translation of the user interface can download it here.

Unsolicited advice

For convenience, pwede naman pong iliban muna ang translation ng mga masyadong mahirap i-translate na terms tulad ng "user" at iba pang katulad nito - as is muna sila for the time being.

I vote for "ipasok" nga

I vote for "ipasok" nga pala. Kasi yun ang pinakamasarap at pinakamasaya. Sa bisaya, "isulod" naman. Actually, ipinapasok naman talaga natin sa database ang entries na sine-save natin, di ba?

Makes sense to me, makes sense to my coffee.

Gawin na lang natin na common names ang mga ito since technical terms naman ang mga ito (email, password etc).. pero masaya sana, kaya lng baka makalito pa sa iba..

Mga ka-syano-an at ka-syana-an natin

Curious lang ako, bro. Saan ang probinsya mo kung meron man? In fact, pwede ba tayong magkaroon dito ng demographics with respect to the provinces of each gdo/phil user? Eventually, hindi na provinces ang maitatawag natin sa mga lugar na ito kapag natuloy ang ongoing federalization at charter change motions sa kongreso.

Let me start. Both my parents hail from Misamis Occidental. However, I was born, bred, bruised and badgered here in Quezon City.

How about you guys?

Pronouncing it in a Filipino way...

dudskie's picture
dudskie - Sat, 2008-08-16 07:35

I have read some Filipino books from the secondary education. One of the topics in the book that we can borrow English word and pronouncing it in Filipino way. The book entitled "Filipino 1, Wika sa Makabagong Henerasyon", authored by Angelita A. Binsol and Teresita Laxina. From there, we can say, the word "save" we can translate it to "seyb". Hehehe.

There are some blogs and links about this:

I'm around 25% done

DL's picture
DL - Wed, 2008-08-20 22:41

I'm around 25% done translating the core of D5 but dropped it and shifted to D6, sensing that D6 is the way to go since D7 is just around the corner. Wise decision or not?

And is anyone already doing module translations? I'm suggesting we translate D6 versions of CCK, VIews, Panels first and then tackle the rest later.
