Well we have about two and a half months until BADCamp, and I was wondering what the status of it was.
Are we sitting down and waiting for someone else to tell us what to do, or is something actively happening that I don't know about?
I can personally volunteer my time to the website, to which I can offer my skills (which are pretty everything Drupal related except for hosting and graphic design, but I can do theming).
If nothing is happening, the thing that's most urgent for us is probably choosing dates (October 10-11 or 11-12, or 10-12 probably), and finding a venue.
Something interesting to consider also would be remote presentations - at DrupalCamp Colorado, I gave a remote presentation yesteday (I am in Warsaw, Poland right now). The way we did it was having a computer there be hooked up to the projector, and a VNC server. Then, I opened up a VNC client and connected, and controlled it, so it looked like I was controlling the computer there, and we did a Skype video chat, and the people over there had a webcam as well as a microphone.
We also might want to get a website together specifically for organization of the camp, which would later become the camp's website. I can do this part, but I would need to know what we need, and we could get a host - do any of you out there do web hosting and are willing to donate some server space to BADCamp?

Hi Dimitri,
Wow, Poland. Are you sticking around Eastern Europe long enough to go to DrupalCon?
We talked about BADCamp a bit at the last BDUG meeting. The current status of BADCamp08 is that it will be happening Saturday and Sunday, October 11th and 12th. I have the same spaces reserved that we used last year (last year we capped reg at around 230, and it never felt crowded, so I think we can go to 300 this year).
The website will go up soon at badcamp08.org. We can host it again on the CITRIS server. My current plan is to just clone the site from last year, strip out the content, and add any needed improvements on top of that. It would be great if you want to help admin/improve the site this year.
Dan Robinson will be pulling together an organizers meeting sometime in the next couple weeks. Anyone who is interested in helping with this year's organization should contact us ASAP. Last year we found the most effective means of planning was an organizers mailing list, supplemented with a couple shared google docs.
The remote presentation idea is cool, but last year we had so many proposals that we had to turn some down, so it makes more sense to me to focus on the local folk (and the people who are willing to travel to be here in person).
Sounds good
I'm leaving from Poland tommorow.
I think that we can plan via a Drupal site (we're planning a Drupal event after all).
I'm happy to do improvements to the site, and (possibly) get a designer.
And I agree about the remote presentation idea.
So I'd be willing to help, and I'm glad to know something is happening. I will probably attend the next meetup.
