Another Montreal Drupal 5@7
public
group: Montreal & Quebec

Start:
2008-09-05 16:00 Canada/Eastern - 2008-09-05 20:00 Canada/EasternThe last Drupal 5@7 (aka "happy hour" for all you non-Montrealers out there) was the best meetup ever and so let's schedule our next one! We'll probably have a Drupalcon wrap-up, as well as the usual tons of great conversations to be had, insights to be gleaned and technical tricks to be learned. We'll also have a status update meeting about Montreal DrupalCamp!
This will also be a Drupal Potluck. Bring some food, snacks, or drinks with you to share. :)
The place is Koumbit's new office.

Dare I suggest.... a regular schedule for meet-ups?
So yesterday's meetup was awesome. There were more people than we've managed to have at a meetup in a very long time, and it was active and people were talking, etc.
That was 8/1, the first Friday of August. This next one, because of the timing of Drupalcon Szeged, is going to be 9/5, the first Friday of September.
Dare I suggest.... we make our regular meet-ups the first Friday of the month? :)
A bit early but I'll try to go
Meet-ups during the week is hard on my agenda but I'll try to go. That means I'll probably be there around 6 to 7pm.
Are there people interested in meeting during week-ends? We did this a long time ago and during that day alone I learned more about Drupal than what I would have learned alone in 2 months.
Any day but Friday
IMHO. end of the week and all . . .
hmm... déjà vu?
This is a recurring issue; no time is right for everybody.
For me, weekends are pretty much off-limits and Fridays are easier to pull-off. But just cause this works for me, doesn't mean that it is the way things should be. It is just that Koumbit holds regular "5à7" (aka "happy hours") on Fridays so the venue is... ummm... "available and happening by default" so to speak.
Perhaps we need to talk about this again at the next meetup. Without a doubt, the best place to organise meet-ups is at meet-ups.
In any case, people are encouraged to post other meetings.

Well, to be fair...
The session that xmacinfo's talking about was exactly him, me, and Addi (who I brought with me ;)). It was tons of fun, but I'd rather have more people show up, personally. Keeping meetings on a regular schedule means people can work around them to make it, even if Friday nights are generally bad.
The other thing we should point out too is that even though the meetup started at 4pm last time, it went until like 9pm. So don't feel like if you can't make it right at 4 you shouldn't bother coming. I didn't make it until like 6 since I got so turned around, and still had lots of fun. :D
We are divided in two
I think we cannot please everyone!
There are those who want meet-ups during the week, and why not during the day for that matter. And there are those who can come up with free time only during week-ends.
I'll try to go and visit the new Koumbit office, but I don't know when I'll manage to be there.
In the future I'll probably end-up organizing the week-end parts of the meet-ups.
Cheers!
I want to go
But money (travel money) is an issue. I hope to be there! That's all I can say. It would be nice to try something new.
Darn, i'll be missing
Darn, i'll be missing ANOTHER meetup. I was looking forward to a face-to-face update on the status of the upcoming Drupalcamp. Anything I can help out with remotely?
Looking forward to it!
Just to confirm again I'll be there. Will be nice to met a few new Drupaleers from Montreal :)
Door locked
Nice building. But a very bad place to organize a meet up in my opinion. The door was locked! And no one responded to the ring button.
Please find an accessible place!
J’ai essayé d’y aller mais la porte d’entrée étais verrouillée! Bien que l’édifice soit bien situé, je crois qu’il faut trouver un endroit plus accessible.
Cela manque vraiment de sérieux.
C'est dommage...
I was really hoping to catch the last few minutes of the meetup -- the previous one was great, but I also met with a locked door. I tried to call, too -- there's a phone booth around the corner --, but I got the voice box...
What could be done to avoid this next time around?
Will someone post a summary of the meeting somewhere? What's the progress on DrupalCamp? What's the next step?
Did anyone got through the door?
So sorry...
... we' ll make sure that this doesn' t happen next time by unlocking the door... and umm... figuring out what is wrong with our voip system.
w.r.t. a summary... umm... in all about half-a-dozen people showed up... we spend a bunch of time talking about DrupalCamp... and then miscellaneous issues from Drupal-wiki, internationalization, d.o. site redesign and more.
w.r.t. DrupalCamp... we have a couple leads on venues and intend to take a decision this week. After this we will make an official announcement and start approaching potential sponsors.
More news soon.

Station C
Station C is a cool coworking space in Montreal on St-Laurent, near Laurier. They've offered to host Drupal Meetups if we like. Someone should definately get in touch with them.
Can we unstick this post? Thanks.
