Inbetween Meeting to discuss Ideas/support
Not to overlap or commondeer the proposed/schedule website discussion but in the light of open source:
My thinking on a "mini-me" meeting in-between the official LA Drupal Monthly meetings
would be an actual casual small meeting in-person at a location with wifi.
The purpose of the meeting would be:

To have an opportunity to go over and discuss on-going topics currently that are
upcoming where people could share and contribute input, help manage, volunteer,
or generally discuss topics that benefit the LA Drupal community.
This would allow a discussion for things outside planning for the Monthly meeting
and cover topics that a Monthly meeting might not allow -
Since monthly meetings are geared towards Announcements and Presentation.
No one is "required" to volunteer but attendence and input would be appreciated.
Mainly allow "Open Discussion" not on IRC or in a monthly meeting.
Topics might include:
Calendar, upcoming events, Drupal Camp, LADrupal.org website,
future Sprint projects such as DimDim or any other subject,
and even the DrupalCon proposal if needed.
Any great ideas that can help the make the LA Drupal community better.
Drupal Camp TShirts, bumper stickers, website ideas, guest speakers, etc. -
Although the meeting would be focused on mostly helping make LA Drupal
great, especially with activities or requirements, if time allows, there should be
the possibility for general discussion on Drupal that Monthly meetings might not
allow or even questions regarding current projects.
Ideally it would be great to possibly have a small meeting in-between every 3 months or so
to allow people from the LA Drupal community to ask questions or get beginning overview
to encourage initial personal learning development.
Ideal meeting location would be somewhere with open wifi most likely near
RMI since that is the location of the Monthly meetings.
A coffee house, library etc.

Like your ideas, but we need online help too
We always encourage local networking like this, but I do think that most of these discussions you propose here are ones we're often trying to discuss online. Meeting in person is awesome, but, and a big but, creating discussions, here on our groups site, is exactly what this GDO is for. At the moment our in person meetings may be news and presentation oriented, but that's because you can't always hold camp-style meetings due to the large number of attendees who join us. We have always gone over in time, but that's because we really try to get people face-to-face time with all members and I agree with others that maybe we need more talk time amongst ourselves.
We all need more encouragement of people commenting/posting online discussions, and any great ideas for our LA Drupal community should really be posted online even if they're just a thought - that's the purpose of the wiki's and discussions. I know we all aren't wiki savvy, but just post something somewhere here and others will help move it, note it, or comment on it. Please, don't take my words as anything against meeting up more than what's currently scheduled, but I do ask that people feel more comfortable expressing themselves here (online) so others can see and comment if they're feeling the same or not.
We currently have an online meeting scheduled for discussing how to make LA Drupal's main website(s) better for current members and new people to come. Please make sure you signup for that online meeting, as it is important that those wishing to help LA Drupal get in on these tasks and call-to-arms. Attend this online meeting and we'll schedule more for sure!
I also ask people make recommendations of topics or alternate meeting agendas when they come to mind. Thank you.

I think you are right on about more open discussion online.

Also all the more reason why LADRUPAL.ORG is good for the LA DRUPAL community.
I signed up for the online website meeting.
If anyone is still interested in meeting up to help write content, ideas, outlines or suggestions - I'm still up for it.
Maybe we can come up with something to contribute together.
I'll plan on trying to post some suggestions/feedback online also that might help.
