Before the last drupal camp, we discussed using our drupal group for the next one, which now is around the corner.
Unless there are objections to moving away from the barcamp wiki to groups.drupal.org, I will upload some content in the next day or two and get things moving.
Categories: DrupalCamp

this is not a poll. but i
this is not a poll. but i vote for here.
Agreed
Having it on the barcamp wiki was always a bit confusing for people who were planning to come for the first time.
needed to make it happen
litwol: I need you to either give me admin access so I can do the following or for you to do it (actually I'm not sure if this is stuff that you can do, we might need to make a request to the g.d.o folks):
for event nodes, we need to add a new term under Event Type "Drupal Camp"
i could select "training" but it would be nicer to actually have a term explicitly for camps
for categories: I'd like to have a sub-term under DrupalCamp that is Drupal Camp 5, so we can keep content for each camp separate.
You already can select
You already can select DrupalCamp.
I've added a new child term 'DrupalCamp 5' under 'DrupalCamp' so you should be able to select that now as well.
thanks
thank you for adding the child term in the Categories vocabulary. I think you misunderstood my other request.
the other request is one that I'm not sure if you can handle or if I need to make a request to the g.d.o maintainers
under "event type" my options are:
User group meeting
Regional conference
Drupalcon
Virtual meeting (eg. IRC meeting, Drupal Dojo)
Training
I'd like to have a "Camp", "unconference", or "Drupal Camp" option for event type.
is Event Type a vocabulary that a group maintainer has access to or one that only the g.d.o maintainers can modify?
Only g.d.o admins can do
Only g.d.o admins can do that, which is out of my reach. i'll see who i can find though.
I figured it would require the g.d.o maintainers
thanks for trying to get in touch with them
I'm going to wait till the end of the day to give people time to weigh in on the question of where to organize the camp.
It comes down to functionality
Let's see if we can get the functionality we need on DrupalNYC in the next few days. Otherwise, we'll go with the BarCamp PBwiki as it is a model that has worked in the past, though as everyone knows, it comes with it's own quirks.
This is my "vote" also
Here if we can get the required in place in the new 3 or 4 days. Otherwise PBwiki.
Agreed.
My case against this in the past was that we got a substantial 'hook' of new people from the barcamp.org page. Two consistently overfilled DrupalCamp's, the rising popularity and common knowledge of the Drupal Platform, and this groups substantial growth in the metro area (and the social network of those members) really somewhat obviates the need to hook more people t the camp.
So, yeah, here.

Although...
We should probably still post the dates and a link to here on barcamp.org.
Advomatic
absolutely
+1 sam - ignoring barcamp.org is no good
ok then
http://barcamp.org/DrupalCampNYC5
Do you think this satisfies your concern of not ignoring barcamp? or should there be more details and info?
Emphasize the requirement to sign up
I think on the barcamp.org site you may want to put something like "SPACE is LIMITED - You must sign up HERE" towards the top somewhere.
As written you may get folks just showing up and there definitely is a potential space constraint.
Peter
done
I've added the text "Space is limited, registration for the event is being done via the NYC Drupal group site at http://groups.drupal.org/node/13857" in bold near the top.
feel free to edit/change that wiki page if you think it should be in larger type or in a different spot, etc.
