Coworking will be a block away at Moka Coffee around 3:30pm.

Agenda

  • Brief One Breath introductions
  • PNW Drupal Summit Update
  • Drupal Clinic Planning Committee Formation - put your name down now here to get in on it!
  • Monthly Presentations - See Below.

Panels Overview

Chris Parsons will be presenting on the most excellent Panels Module. This is a great subject for people new to Drupal.

from the panels project page: The Panels module allows a site administrator to create customized layouts for multiple uses. At its core it is a drag and drop content manager that lets you visually design a layout and place content within that layout. Integration with other systems allows you to create nodes that use this, landing pages that use this, and even override system pages such as taxonomy and the node page so that you can customize the layout of your site with very fine grained permissions.

Apache Solr Overview

Stein Setvik will be presenting on Apache Solr and Drupal. This is a bit more advanced subject.

from the Apache Solr project page: Solr search can be used as a replacement for core content search and boasts both extra features and better performance. Among the extra features is the ability to have faceted search on facets ranging from content author to taxonomy to arbitrary CCK fields.

Come meet and learn with local Drupal folks!

If we're looking for a brief presentation, I recently created a new module and would be happy to discuss just how easy that can be! http://drupal.org/project/jump_menu

After running over the options and merits of each, I'll quickly run through setting up solr & how to configure the search_api module.
