Well, I finished the site and decided not to launch it. I guess for testing purposes I can put it back up. Let me know if you see anything whatsoever on the site that you want to use that may have been developed by me.

Which modifications have you done for the profile module?
Or which modules are you using for the profile?

Thanks. I have not made any

Popboard - Mon, 2006-11-13 23:00

Thanks.

I have not made any modifications to the profile module and I'm not using and profile modules. I believe there is a myspace profile module around here somewhere, don't use it.

I made my own profiles with plain old html and javascript in user_profile.tpl.php and profile_listing.tpl.php. Very easy and quick.

The site is really great.

The site is really great. Very nice designer work made and still quite efficient. You set a great example for us still on the other side of the fence. Good work.

lime.com

We have a highly customized version of buddylist and privatemsg going at www.lime.com the privatemsg was basically completely rewritten, and buddylist is a franken-buddylist with the ability to interact with privatemsg (aka limebox in lime speak) and the myspace-like feature of requesting someone to become your buddy instead of having my buddies and buddies of....

we are going to be re-writing it for the impending drupal5 upgrade, so hopefully we can submit some patches to the group for ability to switch back and forth between 2 friend lists (buddies, and buddies of) and one list with pending friend request lists in the official buddylist.module.

I'm sure this has been discussed before, but I would love to help out where I can.

Great site!

With all the "How to..." questions I've seen about building social networking sites with Drupal, adrenalinehub.com is the proof that it can be done. And done very well, indeed!

What modules are you using?

Hi, thanks for your kind

thomjjames - Mon, 2007-01-01 09:40

Hi, thanks for your kind words about the site.

i did a post on drupal.org (here http://drupal.org/node/98134) when i launched the site, it explains abit more about the modules used. hopefully that will help, if not feel free to ask anymore questions.

thomjjames - Mon, 2007-01-01 09:34

Hi,

the homepage is fairly custom-coded it just drawing content from the rest of the site.
The "news" and "chatter" tabs are done with a JStools module (http://drupal.org/project/jstools) and a few modification to aid the style.

Nice site. Are you hosting on your own servers or are you using a provider? I imagine with the images on the site, you probably blow through some of the 500M file size alloted by some of the hosting services.

Hi,

sorry i only just noticed this.
I have a dedicated server provided by cari.net, they offer good support and all well priced in my view.
I have a bandwidth limit but i'm getting anywhere near it at the moment.

Drupal Sites?

djkim - Tue, 2007-04-24 13:06

Hi

I'm new here and wondering if I should use Drupal to build a SN. So for now I'm just looking for examples who use Drupal, like the ones listed here... thanks :-)

What I'm asking myself is if the 5 on this groups page mentioned sites are also based on Drupal:
* Orkut
* Facebook
* MySpace
* LinkedIn
* OpenBC

Or are those only examples for what SN is?

Ecademy is built on Drupal.

Ryze and LinkedIn

I'm pretty sure ryze.com is built on Drupal; I could've sworn I've seen the distinctive "?q=" on some of their urls.

I've heard said that linkedin.com is built on Drupal, although they've clearly done a lot of customization. I'd be interested if anyone can confirm this.

thomjjames - Mon, 2008-08-04 21:11

Hi,

I just launch a new Drupal social network, obviously using Drupal but it's also about Drupal.
It's called DrupalSN or Drupal Social Network. I won't write too much as i've done a big write up on Drupal.org (http://drupal.org/node/288476) and you can always check out the about page (http://drupalsn.com/about-drupalsn).

writing a load of tutorials that are social networking related for the site and i'm also looking to module some of the custom modules used on the site!

Don't wanna hijack this post so i'll stop here but if you want to check out the site heres the url:

comments/suggestions are welcome
