If our local meetup was at the ideal date/time/location for you, would you prefer an 'in-person' meeting or a 'virtual' meeting?

I'd want to come in person in any case... ideal time/place or not. It's about an hour drive for me. But it's only once a month (and I don't get out much anyway).

More importantly, it's about more than just a meeting and sharing information. That's all great. But the community/camaraderie is what keeps me coming back. It's a great group of generous, fun people. And that wouldn't be the same in a virtual environment.

I'd prefer to show up in person to a virtual meeting. I'll beta test this tomorrow by standing out in the hall and lobbing in snarky remarks when the situation and urge hits me.

I definitely think that the in-person meetings are important and valuable. But, for example, tonight I'm not driving an hour in the rain, in the dark, when I'm feeling tired due to hitting a major work deadline. Call it excuses, call it what you will. I would love to be there. I want to participate. Adding a virtual component allows those of us who can't make it in person to still contribute.

By the way, I did start the drive to Manchester tonight. I got half way down 155 and decided to turn back. I think I'd rather drive in snow like I did coming back from Drupal Camp NH than rain in the dark. In the rain, it's harder to see (for me, YMMV) and the other people on the road are far less cautious as a whole.

I would like to come all the time every time, but life intervenes. Fortunately, in the winter time, most meetings are after dark and is the best time for me to attend virtually. I was able to physically come last night because circumstances justified it; but that will rarely happen.
