AGENDA:
One presentation will be "Powerful Drupal Administration Using Drush part 2", presentation by Chris Charlton, Senior Consultant at Stauffer New Media Development
Long time LA DRUPAL luminary and author, Chris Charlton continues his new power tools series for Drupal & Drush that goes beyond the basics*. This is the second part of an ongoing series exclusive to LA DRUPAL monthly meetup audiences that will not be recorded.
Time to take things up a notch with your Drupal skills this year. Learn the higher level uses of Drush in this multi-part series and become the most efficient Drupal users in the world! If Drush is not yet a part of your Drupal workflow then you are behind and missing out. Do things faster and better with Drupal using Drush.
*Drush basics are covered in video screencasts available online recorded from our previous events.

AGENDA: less formal and interactive
- DrupalCon Denver 2012 Proposal Preview - If you already have submitted a session proposal for DrupalCon Denver, or are planning to submit a session - we’d like to hear it! Share proposal details to the crowd and, if desired, solicit early feedback or suggestions. Giving the crowd a sneak peek may help your proposal when session voting starts.
- Lightning Talks: come prepared to do a five minute talk of something related to Drupal you learned this month. Come share! No talk is too small, and we promise to be kind.
- Job Announcements: if you wish to announce a job opening, please contact one of the organizers before the meetup so we know to expect you. (important note: out of respect for our host, please do not solicit their employees for jobs)
- Raffle Prizes - every attendee has a chance to win one of our awesome prizes!
- Group networking and hanging out. Bring your business cards.
Miscellaneous Info
Parking
There is on-street parking and a dedicated parking structure under the library building that costs $1 per hour (make sure you get the library to validate).
Come Early
The meetup begins at 7pm but the doors sometimes open a little earlier (6:00pm) for eating, meeting, open lab time, and Users Helping Users; which is a chance for members of the community to help and be helped by others with whatever questions and problems they're having with Drupal. Please note that while Users Helping Users is not designed to be a replacement for professional consulting from Drupal experts, there are plenty of Drupal pros who attend our meetups so be sure to bring your business cards or resume.
We want your feedback!
During the meetup, we'll be gathered in the #drupal-la IRC channel and all are welcome to join us. The event organizers will try to incorporate messages from Twitter for feedback or questions that mention @ladrupal or use the #ladrupal hashtag.
Presenters / Lightning Talks
If presenting, be sure to bring your laptop, power adaptor, and display cables... and whatever else you need.
Lightning talks are 5 minute presentations from attendees. They tend to be less formal -- and there are no questions during the talk (not enough time). People can ask you all their questions during the networking session. Consider doing a lightning talk if you’re new or planning to present for the first time. It'd be great if you have a lightning talk that fits with the evening's theme!
As always, please feel welcome to leave a comment below and let others know what you'd like to present ahead of time.

Re: 2nd Tuesday
Thank you Chris for securing a new venue; however, it is BAD news (for me). LA ACM SIGGRAPH has their general events on the 2nd Tuesday of the month and has used that date for years. As Chair of the chapter I need to attend the LASig events and will be unable to attend WLA Drupal meetups.

Aw, that's too bad! Sorry it
Aw, that's too bad! Sorry it won't work for you, Leonard. We've been talking about switching days for years since Nov/Dec are consistently bad months for scheduling/attending meetup at months end. However, don't forget about some of the other great Drupal meetups in the area!

Call for Presenters
Due to the holidays, the switch in venue, the switch in date, etc... we never locked down a speaker / topic for this month other than the pre-planned Drush series by Chris Charlton.
Our format for meetings this year is to have two presentations per meetup. The first presentation, what we need a presenter for right now, will be a shorter (say 15-20min) introduction talk about Drupal. The first presentation will aim to focus on introductory / Drupal fundamentals topics. The second presentation, which this month is Drush (part2), will typically be towards the end and generally more intermediate to advanced.
Anyone interested in talking about Drupal for 15-20min?
Ideas could include:
Due to the short notice, if we don't get any volunteers, I'll come prepared to talk about basic theming strategies ... such as how to convert a design mockup to a theme.
