Our first meeting is going to be Monday, March 30th @7pm at Nextspace. Topic(s) to be announced.

If you are interested in speaking at the first or any upcoming SCDUG meeting, let us know. we'd love to have a few topics lined up for future meetings.

I'll be there and will be shaking the trees for every other Drupalista I find between now and then!

I'd be happy to book this @Nextspace -- let me know.

I'm bringing goodies from DC

I have some door prizes, taken back as booty from DrupalCon.

It'll be interesting to see just how many of us there are in Our Fair City.

Thanks Rob

Thanks to Rob for setting up tonight's meeting. It was great meeting you all (even the Joomla folks! :) Glad to see there is some excitement for Drupal in Santa Cruz.

Here's a simple drupal site that I help my husband set up over the weekend:

http://stravinsky.ucsc.edu/drupal/

(It still needs theme'ing.) He's a prof at UCSC and wanted a site to interact with his students. The basic design is:

1) taxonomy

  • teaching role (faculty/ta/etc)
  • academic quarter (fall/winter/spring/summer)

2) content types (with cck)

  • instructor
  • course
  • assignment
  • private student homework

3) views

  • frontpage (home page modified from existing default frontpage view)
  • courses (shows all courses on /courses page)
  • instructors (shows all instructors on /instructors page and in left block)
  • assignments (shows assignments grouped by course on /assignments page and in left block)
  • student_homework (shows private student homework for admin only)

4) roles

  • student
  • could add instructor but right now there is only one

5) permissions

  • students (and admin) can only view their private student homework unless they make it public on a per node basis

6) lots of modules

  • cck (and related field specific cck modules)
  • views
  • content access
  • pathauto
  • path redirect
  • global redirect
  • nodewords / meta tags
  • drutex (latex filter)
  • wikitools (wiki filter)
  • and more

See you guys next time,
Kristen

A nice turnout for our first meeting. Lots of good conversation and ideas tossed out and I'm looking forward to what we can accomplish in developing new talent, sharing experience, and having a vibrant community to discuss and create next-generation sites.

Here's the recent Drupal site launch (super early this morning) I mentioned at the meeting - http://checkyourhead.beastieboys.com/

Flash front end driven by CCK, Views, services, popups, ajax/ahah and custom caching.

The previous minisite from last month is much of the same - http://paulsboutique.beastieboys.com
