Start:
2009-04-06 19:00 - 21:00 UTC
Event type:
User group meeting

DrupalCon DC has come and gone, and most of the 1,400 Drupalers that it brought to Washington, DC have gone home. That's more of a reason for the Drupal developers, the users, and the curious that call DC home to get together and pick up where DrupalCon left off. The next DC Drupal meetup will be on Monday, April 6, at 7:00 pm upstairs at Stetson's. Please join us to talk Drupal over beers. People of all skill/experience levels are welcome.

This month we'll take a slightly different approach to the meetup and will have 5 minute lightening round demos starting at 7:30 pm. We'll break into small groups and do this round robin style, with simultaneous presentations, rotations every five minutes, and a lot of huddling around laptops. Here's a teaser on what you'll see at the meetup:

  • Features module, which writes your modules for you and lets you build sites faster - Jeff from Development Seed
  • OpenPublish, a packaged distribution of Drupal that's tailored to online publishers - Frank from Phase2 Technology
  • New module that mirrors Democracy in Action forms on Drupal sites via webform - Chris from EchoDitto
  • Interface module, dragging and dropping components utilizing the existing Drupal theming layer - Riche from Trellon

There's at least one presentation slot left, so if you'd like to show off what you've been working on please post about it in the comments and come ready to present. We also have some DrupalCon DC swag left over that we'll bring and put out for the taking.

We'll meet at the upstairs bar at Stetson's at 7:00 pm. More details on the venue are below. See you Monday!

Anytime for one more presentation

Trellon has been working on a module to allow Drupal users to dynamically re-order forms within Drupal. This is going to be a huge step forward for usability within the system. It would be great if we can show this off at the meetup.

Any room for another presenter?

Sure! Come ready to present

Sure! Come ready to present and demo : ) Wireless is usually good, but it would be good to be prepared to demo it on locally too.

See you on Monday!

Good timings!

Just started a new Drupal job, and I'm really excited to join you all! I need fellow Drupal Nerdpals to sound off on.

Wanted to let everyone know that we'll wrap up tonight's meetup up at 9:00 pm and will then turn on the basketball game on the big screen at Stetson's in time for tip off. If you want to watch the game, plan to stick around!

Fun, Social, and Useful -

I got a lot out of the meetup - caught up with some folks I'd met at Drupalcon, met a few new ones I'm looking to learn more about/from, and saw some interesting demos in the Drupal-Speed-Dating-Demo sessions.

I even got some insight into problems I'm having with modules, which I went home and put to good use. Here are some more pictures, though not as nice as Alex's.

Now if only I could finish up my client work so I can try open publish out for TechRevu....

Excellent meeting everyone

I gave the small demonstration-free explanation of the DiA integration module I'd worked on. It was excellent to see so much interest. To those of you that gave me business cards, I'll be in touch in a couple weeks, as I'm heading out of the country for two weeks starting tomorrow. Anyone who would like to help develop or test is more than welcome, and really appreciated.

Excellent, indeed

Hope the travels are going well.

Can't wait for the DIA module to get moving again. May be able to help a little with testing and connections to DIA.
