I would like to see the discussions move above the fold, or at least closer to it. I think that we can eilminate the Upcoming and Jobs blocks as they are repeated in the right sidebar. If we could do that, tighten up the Wiki and Poll blocks to 5 or 6 items, and somehow shrink the lead block, perhaps by putting the links inline instead of in a list, I think that the page would be more effective.
I think that the discussions are too far down the page.

I agree with the fold issue
I was trying some adjustments recently, and I am willing to move out some blocks since we have a tab and sidebar block for jobs and events. Will do now. Let me know what you think after viewing the changes... everyone. Thank you.

I REALLY, really strongly
I REALLY, really strongly (er, with caps-on strongly, lol ;-) feel that upcoming events should be front and center to the group.
IMO the primary function of LA Drupal is to offer networking and face-to-face meetups. point being, I don't think everyone reads the sidebar - aka "secondary information" everytime they visit a page. events are not secondary.

ok, replying to my own post
ok, replying to my own post - I looked at the homepage again and I prominently see links - under group navigation, in the header - easy access to everything. I also didn't notice Chris had just moved the upcoming block down the page. so, um, nevermind. ;-)
wish I had spent more time doing that before my last post :(

layout changes (again)
Did some minor changes. Maybe you can all peek and see if you like the new LA Drupal homepage (http://groups.drupal.org/la).

That looks good. I think
That looks good. I think that Events might trump Polls, but I know that your are the poll-meister.
I suggest that you put the links in a table -- either 3 x 2 or 2 x 3. Some air is good, but that is two much white (err... light salmon?) space for my taste.
Term Links
One thing I noticed is on FF3 the <div class="terms groups"> div seems to be mashed in the content area. I don't know if anyone else has this issue (See screenshot). I wonder if the links wouldn't be better at the end of the post. Just a thought though.
Term links
I noticed that too.
those links are always in the way
:(
Those darn links are always in the way. I don't think we have liberties to tweak that, unless we inject some special CSS to hide them.
