Next Event

Events happening in the community are now at Drupal community events on www.drupal.org.

Has anyone else noticed that the "Next Event" listing sticks around about a day too long? For example, today, April 19th at 2PM in LA the "Next Event" is listed as the OC DRUPAL meet up which will happen.... yesterday?

This wouldn't be so bad if the list had 3 or so upcoming events. But since it is just one, it makes the page appear out of date. I suppose it has something to do with the date and time of the gdo servers not matching LA time.

Yes, I've been seeing this too.

we are using the

we are using the upcoming_group block -- so ya, its the way the view is written -- plus I imagine cache. I'd like to see it changed. (anyone care to submit a ticket?) its a little confusing ... although, sometimes nice to be able to easily access the last meetup in order to post comments to it / feedback.

First event with end date >= now

I'd like to see the upcoming events block actually show the first "upcoming" event. That is the first event (sorted by start "From" date ascending) where the end "To" date >= now. I don't know if the GDO view can be fixed to do this, but I filed a similar issue http://groups.drupal.org/node/120714 which never got any reply.

I agree with you 100% on finding past events to add a comment, etc. This is really hard right now.

It's actually really easy to find past events... its just not obvious. (ah, drupal / OG ... I love your defualt UX) <-- sarcasm :-P

To find events (current & past sorted chronologically), just click the events tab on the homepage. Then click on a meetup location... such as Westside, downtown, long beach, or (from the list lower in the page) even orange county or carlsbad.

To file an issue of something that needs to be fixed, and make sure it eventually gets looked at, it needs to be filed as an issue: http://drupal.org/project/issues/groupsdrupalorg

Otherwise, its just a "discussion"

I agree about that. Seeing the three latest, trimmed in some fashion, would be ideal. Also I find having the date the content was submitted to be confusing and unnecessary.

I don't feel qualified to submit a ticket because I am unable to see "under the hood." I don't know if there is an alternative block the gdo/la webmasters have access to OR if they have any capability to edit the View.

Better than ideal already

Better than ideal already exists... click on the events tab from the homepage. or just type the URL groups.drupal.org/la/events

Screen real-estate is precious... if everything were on the homepage, it would be hard to find anything.

Before, I recall looking for an event that was to start in 20 minutes was already "gone", and was listed as a Past Event. That's worse, imo.

The event had a 'pre-event' session, thus the main event, starting 1 hour after the pre-event start time, meant the entire event was "past" before the main event started.
