4) When drumm, nnewton et al are mentally and physically prepared to deal with the direct aftermath of the change :)

Always deploy off-peak

It doesn't seem very sensible to be deploying major changes just as the site (or more specifically the issue queue) is likely to be particularly busy as people rush to meet a deadline.

DO in D7

Will there be any structural change (improvements) of drupal.org in D7?

shouldn't project and project

shouldn't project and project issue module be ready first? :)

The D6 version of project

The D6 version of project should be final first (and upgradable from D5), yes.

New look must be unique

Launch it as soon as it's ready (any day in Nov, 2012) - BUT, Drupal site is the face of the community, it MUST be beautiful & elegant & convinient.
So i assume new theme should be prepared, with CSS3 buttons & animations, shadows, etc.
Take a look at Joomla's website, or wordpress themes, we must accomplish the same coolness.

Yes new look and feel should me graceful and easy to navigate.... and i am happy if new site launch in new year...... with latest jquery, CSS3 and HTML5.

This is also a marketing thing

joomlerrostov, it.ravindrasingh and yoroy: This is not about deciding what should be in the project and what shouldn't - that was decided a year ago. This is about bringing the code behind drupal.org up to the current version of Drupal while maintaining the existing functionality.

There are definitely other changes that are worth making, design being one of them, but they are outside the scope of this project.

This poll is a bit out of date now anyway, as current estimates are that the code won't be ready until January. I think there was a problem found with the search performance of the issue clues that is a big job to fix.

this question "When should we re-launch Drupal.org on D7", is very wrong to ask here. In fact, it is anti marketing that we dont drink our own champagne, but only after 2 years upgrade our own site. Wrong question, wrong group imho.

(and I do know all the effort that has gone in upgrading a huge site like d.o with project etc. and do appriciate it)

I just don't know why should a CMS doesn't use the latest version of it for itself? drupal.org is still running Drupal 6?

Doubt is the father of invention ... ZendegiyeSabz

because

because d.o is very big and complex. because d.o has a seperate template, because d.o has http://drupal.org/project/project

Yes i understand it. I think the problem is much more than project module, because upgrading it was not too difficult if it was the main problem :). however i think there is not a lot of difference between D6 and D7 for members.
