so the votes for copenhagen will the be multiplied by the fact that the danish population is 5.5 million and the german is 81 so every 1 danish vote would count for 16 ? ;)
and against the london bid it would be 1 to 10 (the english is 50 million)
no seriously i have been objecting against this voting thing because it dosnt really tells us anything, and will any day favoritize larger countrys, so we could end up with having drupalcons in the big 3: Germany, England & France.
If this is an indicator or safenet that the association dosnt make a huge mistake by picking a city that noone wants to go to then the question should be:
"Would you not go to drupalcon if it was in"
.. and i wonder what kinds of controversies thats gonna bring.
we shouldnt just vote because we wanna go somewhere - we should vote on behalf of the proposals. else its just a popularity contest that dont make any sense
There are other people looking after the quality of the proposals and the tenability of the venues. This is how we measure popular interest in the cities/teams/proposals. If one city is wildly more popular than the others then that's actually a good reason - one point amongst others - why DrupalCon should go there. likewise, if one city is terribly unpopular, why should we tell Drupalers to spend money to get there?
Keep telling people about how great Copenhagen is. The other teams should do the same for their cities. If they don't, then they don't really have the fire of the blue drop in them, do they?

Works both ways...
Think of all the residents of London, Copenhagen and Berlin who are voting against their city to justify a trip abroad on expenses. :)

You're right - popularity is being measured.

This post should indicate there is another poll for 2010- and that Copenhagen is listed in both.
Just one sentence and a link to the 2010 poll would make this much more clear.
Agree -
and alas, Drupal's core poll module - may it someday get removed from core - doesn't have a body field where I could put that link.
Here's the link to the 2010 poll: http://groups.drupal.org/node/28374
