What happened to BOFtoberFest?

rggoode's picture

My take on the BOFtoberFest, is that the sessions would be selected from a list on the DrupalcampNH website, well in advance of the camp. And that mentors would be assigned to the final selections and prepared for them beforehand. This would make the Bofs an true hybrid of Bofs and normal sessions.

llisting and selecting the BOFs the same day is just the old model of BOFs and not the same as we discussed at the Summit.

BOFfiness

One mistake I've seen made at Drupalcon and some camps is that BOFs get used for presentations rather than what they should be for - open discussions about specific topics.

Incidentally, I never received an email notice of Tanya's post. Silly email.

Can the poll be amended to

Can the poll be amended to reflect that? or is it too late?

BOFtoberFest is the 3rd one

BOFtoberFest is the 3rd one down on the list, :) With this type of camp the BOF would be more structured with 1-2 mentors running it. Mentors may opt to do a quick mini demo or presentation but nothing elaborate with the emphasis on a discussion/Q&A session.

Hi Tanya, I find the linked

Hi Tanya,

I find the linked poll's descriptions to be too spare for me to evaluate the choices. What do the "(like ...)" phrases mean, for example?

I have not attended any camp nor any maxi- or mini-DrupalCon, etc., so I do not have a frame of reference with which to understand the poll's concise descriptions of the choices available.

In short, I cannot provide any meaningful input to the poll the way it is currently presented.

Cheers,

Bob

Bob the training camp would

mkmagu's picture

Bob the training camp would be a class room enviroment with 1 or more instructors giving a session, the sessions roll from one session topic to the next with 1 common goal at the end of the session you would have a finish product or topic. The first training camp was a beginners camp on how to build a drupal site.
A traditional Drupal camp is multiple session run in a classroom enviroment with different session topics. There is usually 4-5 sessions running in a given hour. The topics could be about anything Drupal.
The BOFtober Fest that was discussed at the Meet up would be a more casual camp with the morning dedicated to a more formal session series and the afternoon set up as a BOF discussion session. Theses sessions would be decided prior to the camp with 1-2 mentors running them. If the BOTTober Fest was chosen the discussion at the Meet up was to have it at Bruce's farm and have cook out in the afternoon.
